Best series: Three words: Sonic the Hedgehog. It's justifiable; I'm a natural Sonic lover.
Best Genesis game: Sonic 3 & Knuckles
Best GameBoy game: I'd prefer MOTHER3 (Advance), but you do have to respect Shantae (GB Color) more.
Best Wii game: BRAWL! Also, New SMB Wii.
Best GameCube game: Super Mario Sunshine. TOO UNDERRATED!
Best SEGACD game: Sonic CD (duh!)
Best 360 game: Sonic Unleashed
Best PS3 game: SOCOM4
Best 32-X game: Knuckles' Chaotix
Best N64 game: Super Mario 64
Best DS game: New Super Mario Brothers (SQUEE!)
Best SNES game: EarthBound
Best NES game: Punch-Out!!
Best downloadable game: Close tie between Sonic 4 (WiiWare, XBLA, PSN) and Risky's Revenge (DSiWare). Mostly the former.

That about sums it up.

Wow so hard for a hardcore gamer to make a call on. I guess I would at least have to break it down into 2 categories. Games that had a substantial effect on my emotions and games that are excellent by brilliance of design, execution, and of course fun.

The Final Fantasy series has a large root in my heart for the emotional aspects. Particuarly 2, 7, and 10. I was really crazy about Zelda: Link to the Past back in the day.

For the other category I would go with the Call of Duty series all the way up until Modern Warfare 2 *absurd storyline excused*. I am a big shooter fan thus biased.

For the most complete merging of both those worlds I'd say Half Life and Half Life 2. Classics for all time. Mass Effect 2 is without a doubt a modern classic that will go down in the halls of history accompanying all of these mentioned. Mark my words.

I still ache for leaving so many great titles out.

Sonic adventure 2 battle is the best game ever its not debatable

I think the most addictive game I ever played was Dominions II a fantasy setting TBS game. It had appallingly simple graphics but a tremendous strategic depth, carrying the rock paper scissors model and the resource management element to the max.

One of my favourite RTS games of all time must be Total Annihilations. There is just so much fun seeing all those little machines making a bee line for the enemy. Game balance was not optimal though, the air component was far too strong in vanilla TA
These days there is TA:supreme commander but much more fun is the freeware TA:spring where you can actually get into a first person perspective.

For a first person shooter I always enjoyed Duke Nukem most. At times it was even scary when you could just here there had to be one of those pig cops around the corner but could not see him.
