I never played any of the older versions of the game (eventhough I had/have the 1996 version, I guess I was too young back then) but I think the story is kinda good, and finally truly a game for adults. They seem to be making too much games for kids nowadays (not the age rating, the story and actual content).

However the controls... Its not smooth at all, I feel its "laggy" and very hard to look around or even aim at enemies (SP/MP).
And the SP is unbeliveable hard, I keep dying no matter what I do, with most easy possible difficulty, eventhough I play FPS games a lot (MP mostly)!

If the controls (looking around and movement) was even a bit better I would like the game even more, now I can barely play it an hour a day. (It was released 10th June here in EU)

Got the game, and all I have to say is: Pure Awesomeness.

Glad to hear it :) I've started my second playthrough, on insane difficulty, with mirror mode (world flipped horizontally) and with big heads mode on 8) It doesn't say these are cheats so I hope I still get the achievements.

I just got past the part where Duke has to jump on the statue of himself in the casino to reach the EDF soldier. The first time I tried to raise and lower the statue's arms, however, the arms didn't move (I think it might have glitched). So I restarted from the last checkpoint, and then I was able to raise the statue's arms to reach the EDF soldier. It was weird.

I was told you can fix that by turning off the mouse smoothing, but I wasn't told the console command that does this...

Where can I find that?
I can't see it in the menu, http://steamcommunity.com/id/Slayer00/s ... 4069880913

It feels a little less duke and more Halo....But that being said "green power armor is for cats" I just got past the first boss. these guys were total demons. now they are so easy. The game is funny as he clasics but I do wish your ego could not heal and bring back the red key.

Yeah but players now days want to go in guns blazing without worrying about that just scrapping by will require quickly getting a medpack or you will die the next moment bad guys get a cheap shot. I personally always get so frustrated over medpacks, finding them when you are in the middle of a battle wrecks the action, kind of makes you feel less invincible when you are supposed to kind of feel really tough.

And I guess in past games I really often had idea what I was looking for before sudenly finding some keycard in an obscure place, I thought it was kind of funny that DNF actually referenced it. They are kind of nostalgic, but weren't they really just the old version of story, where it was easy to set a goal of go and find the coloured card so that the player had a sense of overcoming obstacles. Where as now it is much easier to convey it with more varied and large enviroments and allies which can have a range of dialogue to pass one the feeling of accomplishment.

The game looks juvenile and offensive to me. I don't really see how anyone can say it's a game for adults. This is a game that would've been best left as the vaporware we all thought it would be.

It's a console command, it's not in the options screen. I'd tell you what it is but he hasn't been online to talk to lately...

Edit: Hmm, okay...he said you have to turn the mouse precision down as low as it will go (1). I tried that and it was still a little jerky for me. *shrugs*

There is no console?

Well gonna try that mouse precision then..

EDIT: I'm not sure what mouse precision change did for me but I had to lower mouse sensitivy from 5 to 2 and its still pretty hard for me to aim at enemies. :?

Just beat the game on "Let's Rock" difficulty. These extras are really cool!

As far as I know, there's an INI hack to enable it. It was much easier to get to in the demo.

Heh, you know, I think that those people that reserved their copy of 'Duke Nukem Forever' in 1998, and still have their receipts for it, should get that game for free! lol
And people who reserved their copy of it at a store that went under and still have the reservation receipt, should get paid for the game.

I'm not sure why it cops so much flack    it seems most people have mist the point to this game:

1. Femme nazis: well nobody cares what they have to say a bit like me here :P why can't women or even men be portrayed in this manner these sorts of people do exist in real life .I'm sure we all have a dodgie uncle who's a little bit like him despite his quirks you can't help but love hime. :P

2 . Some have moaned the game spreads itself to thinly and to widely of cause it did it's giving a two finger salute to the poo faced game developers , who think a game isn't a game if it's not highly polished with 30 shades of brown with a sensitive yet strong protagonist who's trying to "find himself" YAWN Their are so many references some obvious GOW, Halo, Splinter Cell Conviction, glorious 8 bit era etc etc and some not so like a cigarette gag (Vanquish) who lights up ever time when his in a boss battle.

How cool is that not that smoking is cool

3.Bleatings about the graphics as well  did these people even play it longer than 1/3 through the game it's all part of the commentary Duke than (I love how during those early stages you can drink from a faucet/take a pee it wasn't that long ago doing these sorts of things was majorly cool in a game and Duke latter in (out of place) modern set pieces, he shouldn't even be around in this day and age, that's what makes it so amusing.

I think these people that poo poo the game I've seen scores as little as 1-2 /10 who describe it in a manner that you'd think it comes a close 2nd seocnd to Et on the 2600 in it's terribleness I think their the ones who go on to forums and complain Vanquish or Bayonetta has terrible voice acting poor character development etc etc of cause it does it's a Sega game for gawds sake it's all about the unadultered fun (remembr when GTA used to be fun  ) none of this pretentious rubbish you get these days from the big developers . (of cause their are exceptions somebody anybody please kill the hog )

Good game gave it 15 / 20 rubber chickens "a lot to like" (Male/female host) which is on the money often they are :) when your working for the national broadcaster no nod nod wink wink hand in the pocket agreements going on their

Or perhaps their is and I'm been naive ?

I give it a 8/10 , best of all it will go the distance can you say that about WW or Sport games

This game is like the games industry joke, the punch line is the release date!

Also I think there is the shrink ray so you can stomp the aliens. Forgiving that I have seen footage where you get to punch a giant alien in the "little alien" (the balls)

You got it thank you it seems many people did not how can they miss it are they really that blind ?

Are these game reviewers even real gamers most missed it by a mile 8O
