The other day I was watching a video made of the game Splatterhouse 3 where it shows Rick's wife Jennifer turning into a horrifying monster if you fail to save her from a parasitic worm, and somone in comments replied on how they couldn't understand why it was so scary because they thought Splatterhouse was a kid's game.

I was like whaaaaaat?! Have they actually seen the rest of the game?! What kind of a person would think a horror game full of blood and gore and exploding entrails, and the protagonist's wife and young son getting eaten alive if he doesn't get to them in time a *kid's* game?! 8O

Some kids could handle it. Some kids could play that game without either being traumatized by the gore or being inspired to perform similar acts of violence in real life.

27 is actually less than the average gamer's age, or so I'm told.

Most definitely not!! !! !! I am 34 and still game. I have been gaming since I was 7. Most of my friends game and they are all over 18. I will continue to be a gamer until I am physically incapable of doing so. It's a release for me.

I'm still a gamer at age 34, but the cost of most systems now keeps me from enjoying recent fare. I did get to test out the Wii-U at a Target store, this time last year...it wasn't too bad. I'm just waiting for a really good price drop.

You can get it with game bundles or for $250, this week included at certain retailers.

Wal-mart has the hot Mario Kart 8 bundle for $300 (well worth the price)
Best Buy has the Mario 3D World bundle for $300
Best Buy also has New Super Mario U (one of the best 2D Mario games eveR), New Super Luigi U (expansion pack) for $300.

All three of these bundles come with Nintendoland included, which is great multiplayer game and has good single player mini games too.

Nintendo regularly sells refurbs on their online store for $200 with Nintendoland (it is well worth $50)

If you want Bayonetta 2 and other lesser first party games, you better buy in before the stock runs out.

Nintendo is refusing to drop the price and lose more money on it.

@OP

What games do you play?

My dad is bothered by the fact I play kiddy and casual games instead of hardcore games.
He regularly tells to grow up and play real systems like Playstation and Xbox, instead of playing Nintendo.
He also says I need to play more games such as shooters, sports, violent games instead of kiddy games like Mario, Zelda, Pikmin, Smash or any of the other games I play that are riddled with colors and lacks violence and scantly dressed women.

He is a traditional hardcore gamers who loves his shooters and violent games.

What games do you play?

That would determine if you are being kiddy, childish, "casual" or hardcore and manly.

I think the "darkest" I ever got with video games were the early "Resident Evil" entries, and "Castlevania Symphony" for the PlayStation. I got really addicted to both of them for a long time, then gave them up because the content was still in my mind. I played "Symphony" recently on an emulator, for the first time in at least ten years. I was shocked and disturbed by how much I remembered.

Well I am half that age but I play computer games and video games, don't really think of it as a childish thing though kids like gaming to but it can be entertaining.

My darkest game this gen (I only own Wii U, 3DS and my strong powered Macbook Pro) is Bayonetta 1&2 double pack (first run has both included).

Last gen it was... Goldeneye 007 or Mortal Kombat 9.
Between my Gamecube and Dreamcast it was Eternal Darkness (GC), though it was more psychological type of game.

I just don't care for most violent and gory games.

Nintendo games are less childish that most so called "mature" games if you ask me.

I know... They do make the majority of the games I own.

Sadly the two countries where it matters horribly disagree.

This is true. Many times I've seen a mature rating on something only a twelve year old would like.

This meme is so true on so many levels.

But to be fair Call of Duty is down in sales almost 30% this year and yet it regularly outsells nearly every game on the market.

Pokemon regularly sells between 16-30M depending on the generation, even on 3DS which has sold ~50M currently.

Then you should be happy that GTAV is set to be the best selling game in the series.

But sadly hardware sales are down by 23% in terms of revenue.

My dad played computer and video games and also taught me to play them, so I don't think it's childish at all.
