When I get around to buying one, it'll probably be a black XL.

Or you can wait...

Gamestop managers have leaked the plans for the regular New 3DSs.
They state they are coming later this year, once the existing stock of 3DSs are sold down enough to free up shelf space.
Until then, retailers aren't willing to give Nintendo the shelf space for them.

Here is the Majora's Mask full front and back covers

My current 3DS is an XL, so I don't see why I should downgrade to a smaller one.

It sounds like they're only releasing the XL models, though. That's not what I want.

If they do ever release the regular model, and they don't release it in white, I will seriously flip my lid.

Initially yes, due to retailers not wanting the regular models at the moment.

Also retailer data shows that the XL make up most of the sales of all the 3DSs in NA.

The main reason I bought a 3DS XL was because my friends all have the original 3DS, and the face buttons feel very mushy to me...and glossy finish + bare hands = eternal fingerprints. The large screen was a nice novelty for a while, but I get tired of this big, bulky thing that's hard to hold in bed, weighing down my pocket during travel, and sometimes I feel like I'd rather have nice, crisp pixels over big fat ones.

Also, the faceplates seem like a really cool idea, and hopefully not the "here's two colors to choose from" dust traps that the Game Boy Micro had.

INDEED I have noticed this. Uuugh. Now the visuals are much improved over the previous gen, so you can have even more detailed lack of color! JOY. Ugh.

The worst been that now that they can (Finally!! !) do dynamic global illumination they have no technical excuses anymore to be brown. http://www.gamasutra.com/blogs/PhilippeRinguetteAngrignon/20090606/1708/Why_quotNextGen_Gamesquot_Went_Gray_Brown_And_Grey.php

First of the XL is great system for those who have big hands.
It is also the best selling model in North America.

The n3DSs have glossy finishes now.

As for face plates, American retailers hate them with a passion and generally refuse to stock them.
They just don't sell well enough to stock them.

Americans buy everything but face plates.
They didn't buy them for cell phones, certain laptops, GBA Micro, Xbox 360, and they aren't doing too hot for PS4 either (yes you can buy face plates for PS4 via Sony's site).

I hate to be the one to tell you this, but grays, browns and blacks sell better than games with colors in English speaking Western countries.

Colors = kiddy still!

I'm certainly glad for those people that got an OG 3DS. However, for a guy with vision like mine, I'd say 3DS XL makes for a cleaner picture. No more having to squint to look at minute details! 8)

Oh, you dont need to tell us.

Already quite painfully aware of that one, I think.

I try not to think about it too hard though in the hopes that it might go away if ignored.

Doesn't change my opinion. I already have an XL of the original 3DS, I want the standard sized New.

My hands are normal sized.

As part of one of Amazon's Black Friday deals (despite being Saturday), they are offering a new 3DS XL + two games for £99.

Is this worth capitalising on?
