Also Gran Turismo on the PS1. I obtained the 'B' driving licence, but the races that it qualified me for were every bit as 'arcadey' as the entry-level game. Then tried to pass the 'A' licence, but couldn't get past the last two tests, presumably because one was supposed to master some sort of powerslide (no help given in the manual). Not worth the bother in the end.
The PSX version of Quake 2 is pretty remarkable from a technical standpoint, but gameplay-wise it's not as good as the PC version, from what I've heard. I do agree that the soundtrack, while kickass on its own, doesn't exactly fit the game's atmosphere well.
agreed, it was bettor then PH on the central dungeon climbing part. that was just poor planning. my major gripe with spirit tracks, was the train tracks which limited you to set paths on which you could travel - cutting the overworld exploration aspect to almost zero, in this regard PH was a bit better.
yeah, dark trains were a b***h. fortunately you could find extra tracks and that made the rails a bit better, i think.
hated just how long it took to get to the first real dungeon. i feel they really could have done more with that waterfall section on skyloft when finding your bird, a mini dungeon of sorts. not just finding to have kikwis, traverse tightropes and fight stupid looking bokoblins which really got me wound up when they blocked my EVERY SWING. how is their silly machete stronger then my shield?
tentalus was moronic.
(maybe this is asking too much, but i would have liked to keep the practice sword. :3 )
didn't feel at all like a bioshock game until the whole "skyhook to the face" part. in all 3 games i felt a bit like an errand-boy at times but at least the first game gives you a real explanation!
the inability to collect and store medkits or healing items was a nice difficulty factor IMO but made me really dependent on food, how does booker not get obese?

The only disappointment is that Quake 4 isn't available for PC, and I'd really like to play that one since it's the sequel to Quake 2.
For my worst video game, I'd say Duke Nukem Forever. Mainly in that it was just not fun to play (and I'm usually pretty easy to please.) Many parts of the game were kind of annoying (RC car sections especially) mini-bosses were aggravating and boring (it sticks you in a small area with little cover, only one weapon works against the boss, and it's given to you right before you fight him) plus Duke's health goes down very easy and you have to hide to regenerate it. The 'humor' sucked, it was filled with tons of crude sexual jokes that a 14 year old would snicker at instead of the stuff that was mature, but wasn't crude. And one of the biggest sins of all was that it didn't contain the mod tools people thought the devs would be giving us. The Duke Nukem franchise has a moderate modding community, and even if the shipped game wasn't great they would have used the modding tools at least, and made their own (better) Duke games.
That whole game was such a sad, sad disappointment.

As far as handheld consoles go, Zelda Link to the past was the worst by far, the game gave me no hint of where to go, I was stuck in the same area, and never got past the beach or wherever it was.
And lastly consoles, I think the worst game would be ecco on the dreamcast, again no hint of where to go, may aswell have been one of those games that are made to not be beaten or make any progress.
Do you perhaps mean Link's Awakening? A Link to the Past has no beach area....and if you got lost that easily either way, I'd steer clear of Ocarina of Time and Majora's Mask ( Water Temple and Great Bay Temple respectively...very confusing dungeons even with a guide )....
Go ahead and hate...worst I played include:
Zelda: Skyward Sword
Zelda: Spirit Tracks
Zelda II
Banjo-Kazooie: Nuts & Bolts
Assassin's Creed III
Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes
every Call of Duty ever
Steel Diver
the PSP Ratchet & Clank games
Super Time Force
Elder Scrolls Oblivion ( BORING )
Witcher 2 ( BORING )
F-Zero Maximum Velocity
Lost Planet 3
Devil May Cry 2
hehe I enjoyed a few of these. LP 3 was great.
I've played a lot of crappy free to play games. None of them are worth mentioning (mostly because I can't remember their names lol).
Not gonna name the worst trash, barely-games I've played because that would be pointless. Everybody knows Hugo is bad.
Final Fantasy XIII was so, so bad. The battle system involved switching to the best "paradigms" for two kinds of attack (depending on enemy type) and healing. That's it. Despite the simple battle system it is basically a dungeon crawl. I don't understand how people have even finished it.
I haven't played many godawful games for more than the few minutes required to realise it's a waste of time. I played FF13 for about twenty hours and it is the longest I've played a bad game - entirely on the basis of my love for the series - so it earned this spot for me.
My Amiga 500, bless it, came with a "Screen Gems" pack which included games based on "Back to the Future 2", "Clive Barker's Nightbreed" and "Days of Thunder" These were all pretty much unplayable.
Perhaps the "Nightbreed" one was the worst as it some kind of attempt at telling the story using proto-quicktime events - one early sequence had you running away from a monster by simply pressing the joystick button repeatedly as fast as you could. Dire.
The "BTTF2" game was a side-scrolling thing on hover boards with weird perspective and collision detection. I never got beyond the first level.
The "Days of Thunder" game was (of course) a driving game but I think it went for 3d view from inside the car. Pretty dull.
The pack also contained "Shadow of the Beast 2" which was at least looked good and was playable but it contained some stupidly hard sections and had no ability to save progress.
