Yeah I remember a period where there were lots of games being released that involved zombies in one form or another. Even if the game didn't normally have zombies, there'd be some zombie DLC. Even Train Simulator had zombie themed DLC!

I think it was both the hip thing to do, and the fact that AI programming for zombies is simpler than programming a smarter enemy.

I've played the Half-Life series, Doom trilogy, Duke Nukem 3D, Left 4 Dead 1 & 2, Serious Sam series, Turok series (only the Tal'Set games), Postal 2, Red Faction 1 & 2, Return to Castle Wolfenstein, and Borderlands series.
I'm open to recommendations.
I only play the best.

Here are some games I want to play, but haven't yet. Turok 2 & 3, other Wolfenstein games, and the new Doom.

Clearly the new Doom game is going to be amazing. It's so good that it doesn't even need a number. It IS Doom. Not that crummy old 90's game. Silly pretender.

Seriously though, the new Doom so far hasn't impressed me. It's interesting, but not $79.95 USD interesting.

I'm hoping it might become interesting once we see some actual gameplay videos, long-ish ones, instead of JUST "OMG LOOK AT THE GRAPHICS" videos.

It's nice when you can get like, a 30-40 minute vid from the developers where they JUST sit down, and play the game in question, while commentating, instead of getting JUST the sorts of "trailer" videos we've seen so far. Right now, Doom is very hard to judge. All I've been able to get out of it so far is "dont like the new chainsaw". That's it.

Halo is really one of the few shooters I play, not the 343i Halos, the good ol' Bungie ones.

I recently found an old PC FPS game called Devastation for sale at a CEX (Computer Exchange) store, priced at 10 Pence

It actually wasn't too bad: set in a post-apocalyptic urban environment, where resistance fighters (of which the player is one, of course) battle against an evil corporation, it has some similarities to Half Life 2, though it's nowhere near as good. One strange feature is that the baddies have regeneration machines which duplicate them every time they die, and the key objective in most of the levels is to locate and destroy the enemy regen facility. The resistance also acquires this technology though, so every time you're killed you are recreated back at your base, which is invariably at the start of the level....

It's quite challenging, especially as there are three difficulty levels in both Arcade mode and Simulation mode, the latter of which is apparently close to impossible on the toughest setting. Many reviews also mentioned that the game was very buggy, some players being unable to complete it for that reason, but it ran very cleanly with few problems on my Windows 7 laptop.

I was replaying Alien vs Predator 2010 on 360, for the survivor mode. It was surrisingly fun, I actually beat my high score from 2010.
