As an update to my earlier post, I've moved all of my Character's over to the Horde side on Feathermoon (RP). Rinncewind and Tooflower are my current toons, and I have a few inactive ones as well. Feathermoon was the server that I first started out on, and its strange and weird culture never ceases to amaze me. It was the first of the RP servers, but no one really RPs outside of Silvermoon and Darnasses. Most of the active players have been on WoW for a long time and so you rarely run into other people leveling new toons. Non-endgame profession materials are always in high demand and sell for outrageously high prices at the AH (30G for a stack for wool cloth =| ), and the city trade chat is home to some of the hottest and most hateful flame wars on the internet. Just don't call them trolls, that is considered racist by the (very small) troll rp community. The term 'Murlocking' is preferred. But all that nonsense aside, it's a pretty cool, if slightly elitist, realm.
I have to say that I really like the direction the game is being taken in since the last few patches. Getting tier-9 gear is so easy now, and while some people might see it as cheapining the game, I think's made all the awesome end game activities more open to people who might have lacked the ability to network with others the way you had to back in the day.
