What is your gaming platform of choice and why.
Civilisation, Age of Empires, Heroes of Might and Magic, Drakensang, Doom, Shadowrun Returns, Tons of Star Wars Games, Anno, Deponia, Battlefield series (The one that was released for consoles before, was because of the technical lack of consoles horrible reduced from 64 players to 24, its simply not the same game.), Age of Wonders, Starcraft, Total War, The Settlers, Thief, and a gigantic bunch of Adventures that needed too much time for mentioning... ^^
For me its quiet opposite, all that is released on consoloes, is either anyway worser presented then in the comparable PC version, or its something I dont play anyway (J-RPGs O_o), or its something that is not really that unique to me. (The last of us: Zombie Survival Games were not really that rare during the last time.)
So its less about single games I miss, that can be easily replaced by other ones, but more about the complete lack of genres that I miss. Tactical, strategy, simulation games are hardly existing on consoles, because of them not really being playable with a gamepad, FPS genre is existing but lacks propper possibilities of aiming in all games because of the lacking mouse, Adventures would work fine on consoles I think, still more then 50% are not available for them, whyever...
There is simply nothing on a console, I could not play on a PC as well, but complete genres I love, that I cant play on console. (And additional unlike PC no possibility to choose between controller/keyboard + mouse.)
I was never a fan of turn based strategy games, but really liked RTS. Unfortunately, that genre has really declined. If I had a gaming PC, I'd probably pick up StarCraft 2, but other than that, there really aren't any I'd be interested in. Most of the games you mentioned are older games and I've already played them. Loved the AoE series. I just don't feel inclined to build a $1,000+ PC and have to set it up in my bedroom (possibly a unique situation I'm in) just to play the same games I can play on my $500 Xbox One on my big screen TV sitting in my comfy recliner.
That's the thing about it though: It's not just a small, select number of games that you miss out on by sticking with a console.... it's actually the other way around. By sticking with a PC, there are few, very few, games that I miss out on compared to what I have access to now. The PC's overall library is THAT vast. No.... more than that. Much more, actually.
That's one of the big reasons why I dropped the consoles: The selection of games was way, way, WAY too small. And I dont just mean the brand new ones, I mean the fully established ones like the PS3 or 360. Not enough to choose from in their library. Very little variety in what there IS to choose from. Overall, a very tiny selection compared to what I'm used to. AND, on top of that, quite a number of those games.... particularly the major ones.... make it to the PC as well.
But it doesnt work the other way around. 99% of PC games NEVER hit consoles. The vast majority of PC developers have no desire to do that, as it inflates their cost and effort DRAMATICALLY while providing little benefit. Only the most enormous developers do this, and there simply arent that many of them. I myself own hundreds of games on the PC here (and that's ONLY counting the ones I actually buy, not the ones that are totally free), and out of all of them, there's only a few that have ever appeared also on consoles. A few as in not even double digits. And I own games of damn near every genre on here; the only genres I dont bother with are jRPGs (too boring/convoluted/stupid) and sports games (no.... just no). With racing games being the potential exception to that rule, as some people seem to consider it a sport. And as for the genres that are believed to be "all there is" for PC by some people, RTS, FPS, and MMO, those actually make up probably about 4 or 5 percent of my collection, as I simply dont play the first two that much, and MMOs.... well, you dont really play a huge number of them at a time, that doesnt make sense.
As it is, while I still have consoles, it's been... hmm. Possibly about 2 years now, since I've bought even one thing for them that isnt a fighting game, or an import shmup for the import 360 I have. There simply hasnt been anything else worth my time (in my case it's definitely NOT a money issue; if I wanted something, I'd simply go get it, immediately).
PC games though? I'd have to examine my list carefully to count how many I grabbed in just this month alone. I find MANY things that interest me on there, of any genre aside from the couple that I hate.
I forgot what else I was going to say. Not that THAT is a surprise.
Since I was a little kid back in the mid 00's I've played my first games on a PS2 and still occasionally play on it.
My main gaming platform is a PS3, I have about 30 odd games for it, I won't be getting a PS4 till next year when more games are out for it and its cheaper.
I also play a lot of other games on my Laptop, there mostly older games though, the best thing my Laptop can run is GTA San Andreas, some people like me just can't afford to get dedicated PC gaming computers, so I stick with consoles for now.

I could be wrong so please correct me if so, but I'm assuming when you talk about a lot of PC games that never come to consoles, you're referring primarily to smaller, indie type games that are popular on Steam. Those kinds of games just don't interest me. I don't have a lot of time to spend gaming so when I do, I want to spend that time playing big, story driven games for the most part. Here are some of the games I played this year:
Tomb Raider
The Last of Us
Splinter Cell: Blacklist
Batman Arkham Origins
Ninja Gaiden 3: Razor's Edge
Bioshock Infinite
Assassin's Creed IV: Blackflag
These are the kinds of games I like. Granted, many of them are available on PC and would even look better on PC but are there any games similar to this that are PC exclusive. It's definitely possible that there are and I'm just not aware of them, so if so, please point them out.

No no, I refer to damn near everything.
In my case, yes, I play alot of indie titles: I dont give a rat's ass how big the developer is, who the publisher is, or how "awesome" the graphics are. Hell, that last one is REALLY subjective.... I tend to think alot of AAA games are, well, butt-ugly. I've seen too many games with excellent art direction to think that things like Gears of War or Resistance or whatever are actually GOOD looking. And I've seen too many super-impressive-on-a-technical-level games for it to have any impact or effect on me anymore.
Not to mention.... if you MUST have story in your games, again, you might be in the wrong place. There's *alot* of story-driven games on PC. I cant imagine where you'd get the myth that there arent. Wether or not they're smaller games, or bigger ones depends on the game, though I always maintain that that part doesnt matter worth a damn. Regardless, both types exist. Oh sure, there's plenty of them on console, but again, only those with LOTS of resources can produce a game on console. On PC, *anyone* with a story to tell can make something, so there's games of all levels that do this, and in all honesty, the smaller ones are often going to be the ones with better stories, for one really major reason: They dont HAVE to follow trends, or ideas decided upon by the publisher they're under (which can RUIN a series entirely, and seems to happen pretty frequently on consoles in general). They're free to write what THEY want to write, and for any real writer, there's nothing more important than this. It's one reason why I haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaate story-driven games on console..... but on PC, every now and then, I'll find one with writing good enough that I can actually tolerate or even enjoy at times.
But, I'm not the one to ask for examples. While there's a couple of story-driven games I did quite enjoy.... most notably the 4 games that make up the Chzo Mythos series.... for the most part, I avoid story-driven games like the plague. If it's got cutscenes in it, as a rule, I want no part of it. If for whatever crazy reason I wanted to actually watch a damn movie..... which I can guarantee you NEVER happens with me..... I would just go watch a movie. I play games.... to play the damn games. So I only look for things with good gameplay, story be damned. I read WAY too many books (seriously, the damn things are everywhere just in my room alone) to consider the storylines in most games to be anything other than utterly horrible. The one "high-end" (as in, super-advanced-graphics) game I have in my collection that is story-driven is probably Miner Wars 2081, and I only own that because, like a good number of others that bought that game, I was expecting something that *wasnt* story driven, considering the engine and gameplay concepts within it, which.... well, I'm not going to take too much time explaining those; they relate to another genre that's only ever on PCs and I'm too impatient to explain what it's like.
My point though is that yeah, there's about a bazillion story-driven games on PC. The damn things are everywhere, like cockroaches. I hear about them all the damn time, but yeah, I cant make recommendations, as while I hear about them I generally then immediately ignore them and do my best to forget that they exist. But they are there, and there will be plenty of players who will know about them, and plenty of resources that make it easy to find them.
I'll stay as far away as possible though myself, thanks.

I cant talk about Ninja Gaiden, have not played or seen a friend of mine playing that. When it comes to the other, with the excepttion of Bioshock,, its simply typical console games to me. Railroad-action-"shooters/fighters", that are focused on mashing people and less on story. Nothing big, and most of them only railroad story, that you are not allowed to really influence. Specially when it comes to Batman and Tomb Raider I dont see the big thing, my partner played them right beside me on PC, they seemed pretty 0815 to me. I think it simply depends on your personal liking, for me this action-ramble-"RPG"s never really managed to touched me. At least in the earlier assasins creed games, you run around a world, that does mainly not interact with you, only at special points you get involved in a story, you are anyway not really allowed to influence but only to watch them in videos, therefore films are made, and between that you have some fights, that the developers seem to have very focused on. So I appreciate that when it comes to the Batman and Assasins Creed game its at the beginning fun to watch the fights, but after a while becomes boring. Story in a game is something I want to experience IN a game, not by watching television while not playing the game or being allowed to press one or two buttons to "interact". So Final Fantasy is as example quiet a boring pain in the ass for me. ^^ I really like story in games, but not in form of passive television.
No matter, gaming should be fun to you, and if you like it´s the game you should go for. For me these types of games, are more one of the reasons, why I dont really play console games. ^^
I simply dislike the prejudice of the 2000 USD+ PCs that you would need. I let mine built buy a small shop, and was always very sufficient with them. As well that the console games sadly stay expensive for a very long time.
So personal liking of games is relevant for what you choose, if you only like J-RPGs, racing games, sport games, action games, nothing bad about console. But when it comes to the financial part, PC is not that expensive as people always seem to suggest. As well that with the Direct-X systems the time of "try and error" compatibility with games, that wont run on your system, isn´t really relevant anymore.
When it comes to "games that are not released for system xyz", nope if you take yourself a magazine of homepages that focuses on PC games, more then half of the releases (of normal games, not indie games) will not be done for console. But I think that simply depends on what you focus anyway to inform yourself. So I dont spend time in console-focused homepages or magazines, just as I dont visit the console departement on games store, so as you hardly wont mention many normal PC games sales titles (as recognizable, when you said that most games I mentioned, were older games, while I meant the actual release of the game series, not the first one that started the series ^^), many console titles released, will get as well not mentioned by me or only about later on gaming forums like reddit and so on.
Mine will probably always be a tie between the NES and SNES. Both systems had so many great games, and the people involved placed far more emphasis on substance over style.
I also enjoy the Wii though; the "Super Mario" games for it are incredible.

at the moment, i still play mainly my PS3 mainly because i've got a big back library.
I own a PS4 but at the moment its not used much. Mandatory PS+ membership for online play and £55 games don't help much.

Steam did an incredibly awesome sale over the last few weeks, so I've been buying new PC games like crazy. Counter Strike: Global Offensive in particular is amazing, I highly recommend it if you like multiplayer shooters. Now, I'm not so big on the socialization aspect of multiplayer gaming (unless it's with close friends), but I do enjoy the level of strategic and tactical sophistication that gets brought to the table when you're squaring off against actual human opponents.
between my gaming laptop (that i built may i say), and my wiiU, i have the gaming centre covered.
my pc plays everything that can be released on ps3&4 as well as 360 and xboc1, plus all the pc games of course. i have controllers for all consoles and hell, i get to sit in bed and do it.
wiiU is backward compatible for all nintendo games ever and has controllers for all, and i have them all too. so i can load mario 1 from the nintendo store and play on my original nintendo controller and play it.
the wiiU is so underrated but man, it is the one console i would actually buy.

At our house, it is mainly mobile games for the kids (ipads) and Minecraft on our iMac. But they also love to play Wii (mostly Smash Brothers, Lego series, and Mario Kart).
But for me it is xbox. I had the original until a few years back (never bought the 360). But I recently bought the new xbox one. Just for me. And for me, it is all about Halo - so I am pretty much just waiting for the next release. And hoping that they port at least Halo 4 over. I did hear that they were going to release Halo 2 for its anniversary for xbox one - but I wasn't crazy about it - I really only like to play as Master Chief. But I was glad to see less prominence of the flood in 2. I had to work long and hard to get through playing those levels (nightmares).
I have difficulty using mouse/keyboard for gaming - so I have never been able to get into non-console gaming.
I just finished Battlefield 4 for the one, and I am in the process of going back through the campaign and attempting to use nothing but the sniper rifle (unless tanks/helicopters are involved).
I say 360 mostly because I got tired of PC versions needing software (and sometimes hardware) updates to play a game title. The 360 holds it's own (even after all these years...partly because most PC games are "ports" from a console title). Since the console hardware is uniform, the game is coded to the system. Coding a game for a PC (even considering the unifying DirectX architecture), means you don't know what hardware specs the system will have, and stuff happens which could impact the game play quality.
Before the 360 and PS3, consoles couldn't compare to PCs for gaming. PCs can always be better, but the benefits are becoming less obvious now that consoles are as good as they've become.

The main benefit has little to do with graphics though.... it's the monstrous selection of games that is the real benefit of PCs VS consoles. Even considering the entire combined library of PS3, 360, and Wii, that doesnt even come close to matching the PC library. Particularly since developers dont have to deal with things like manufacturing costs and whatnot. Or even publishers in some cases, depends on the situation of the devs. Hell, I've got 191 games just on Steam alone, and I'm picky about my purchases, since I tend to be negative and there's alot of stuff I DONT like in games. One of these days I should count how many non-Steam games are on here, but..... ehhhhh. Effort.
As for stuff like specs.... with most games, if you're running a PC that is A: somewhat recent, and B: has an actual video card of some sort (as opposed to the craptacular "integrated" ones), then you're good to go for most games. You might not be able to get them to mind-shattering levels of pretty, but you'll be able to play most just fine. Usually you're only going to get alot of bugs/glitches/slowdown if you're playing an unfinished game.
In my case I'm also just glad that I dont have to go to freaking Gamestop anymore. Bloody horrible stores, those. I remember EB Games was a decent store chain, and then Gamestop just ate them.... and the crap began. I think that's one of the things that started pushing me away from consoles in the first place.
"Would you like to preorder any games today?"
God, I'm glad the university town I live in still has GameXchange. They may not have many new games, but the people there aren't constantly trying to sell you extra crap.
