Alright so i just died in a 66 minute trek in Risk of Rain and i was astounded how.
Okay, so here's how it went down: I was HAN-D the toughest guy in the game with 2000+ health and i was slamming down on the final boss. I was doing good, i was at full health and got to the third stage of the boss where he summons a shadow clone and two flunkies and one his attacks is one of where crosshairs chase you and you gotta avoid them. The shadow clone has that too and i was at full health when ONE of the shadow clone's crosshairs struck me. that's just sad, man.
On another note i've been training my Lucario amiibo through AI and myself. I'm already seeing a bit of my imprinting on it... by it using smash attacks so damn much.
Yeah, that stupid target thing that Providence and his annoying clone can do really HURTS, though the clone's version does much more damage. You have to be seriously, stupidly overpowered (usually by repeating earlier levels many times) to really survive it. Just ONE hit will take you out, regardless of who you're using, in most cases. Only real thing to do is to just keep running forward and watch for those irritating shockwaves.
Anyway, as for me, I randomly bought Destiny on a whim, thinking I should actually give one of these a try, as it occurred to me that it had actually been quite some time since I've tried a game of this sort.
The controller... did not do to my accuracy what I thought it'd do. I thought I'd go in and flail alot and never be able to hit anything, at least not without standing and aiming very slowly first. ....not what happened. Very speedy and accurate, so I ended up picking heavy damage weapons that fire slowly and need precision, and am using that sort the most. Very... satisfying.
Now that I think about it, maybe this is to be expected after spending so much time playing a variety of other first-person games (not always shooters, and usually indie titles) on PC with the most bizarre controller setup ever. With that setup, BOTH sticks control turning/aiming/mouse cursor; dpad is actual movement.... and the less said about the rest of the buttons, the better. Dont even ask me why I did it that way, the short answer is "that's the only way that worked". For those, it's STILL the only way that works. But going into this game, ahh, control and accuracy are super easy compared to the loopy setup.
Either way though, enjoying the game so far alot more than I thought I would... but then, it's not a modern-military shooter, so that makes sense.
