My stats might be a little different I don't know. I have a 100 in guns with a the Lord Death (x2) perk and Abominable (x3) so deathclaws die pretty quick with whatever I critical into them. So for me the Silenced .308mm does the job quite smoothly even at near distances. I've taken out a brood from withing 20 feet just by popping my head up to fire and then pulling back behind a rock. I guess I'm just saying this because I just realized I have those perks and that may be why I can pull off using the weaker weapon. If you don't pull a head shot though they run at you so you are definitely right about that.

I don't dislike the A-MR I just feel it is severely crippled as a functional weapon so I've opted to use the weaker weapon since it seems to be more functional in a whole. I really think there should be at least a DPS upgrade for it or I find it hard to implement. Like I said I like to get a little closer to my prey sometimes so the Crack of Thunder the A-MR produces is a bad choice for those situations. Also there are times you can't pull off a mile long shot so it suffers there to an extreme. In Dead Wind Cavern you have to fight multiple deathclaws in close quarters and they will kill you if you use the A-MR there. It's an optional dungeon but like I said you can't use that there.

As far as the brotherhood... good luck with that . The brotherhood will eat you for breakfast if you try to use the A-MR in their tight hallways with only being able to fire once every 2.06 seconds. Your best bet on fighting them is pulse weapons. Whether that's pulse grenades, pulse mines, pulse rifle, pulse pistol, or the Paladin Toaster (Unique Power Fist) you want something that does high damage to power armor. You'll also want to be decked out in the finest armor yourself because they can cut you down pretty fast with their weapons. I have a feeling even a shot from the A-MR with Armor Piercing rounds wont do the job very well with their high numbers.

Also the Gauss Rifle is very nice against beasts... but lacks power against armor. I used it with a 100 energy weapons on my last character play through and it was really fairly weak against armored foes like Caesar's Legion even. It was nice but I had to fire multiple shots to kill moreso than the one of the A-MR. The ammo can be quite heavy too on hardcore since each shot takes 5 cells. I'm just saying I think the Gauss rifle ranks somewhere between the sniper rifle and the A-MR. It's faster than the A-MR but weaker than it. And hits more like the sniper rifle but has a faster rate of fire.

Hey I'm getting ready to finish this play through soon so I can finish up the quests for mister house since I recently hit level 30 and want to start building a new character soon with all the stuff I know :D

Does anybody know where I can find the remaining companions I need? I'm trying to go for the recruit everybody trophy so I don't have to deal with recruiting people my next go. I have recruited Boone, Cass, Raul, Rex, Arcade, and Lilly. I've heard mention of someone called EDE but haven't found that and I don't know if there are others. Can somebody mention who I'm missing and where to find them? I'd appreciate the help :)

Thank you. Oddly I never knew there was a door into the Mojave Express so I never checked there

Was ED-E the last companion character that I needed? I'm just curious because I didn't get the trophy for recruiting them all... which means there's either more companions, the trophy bugged, or I messed something up on accident. I did let the doc experiment on Lily so I wonder if that was stupid :(

Cuz now I have ED-E, Arcade, Cass, Raul, Boone, Rex, and Lilly. Are there any others? Or did I screw something up with Lilly? I also know that The quest with Cass bugged so I can't even finish it because it says to discuss terms with that lady at the crimson caravan and when I go no dialogue options appear to discuss it.

I read one of Zara's past posts. It sounds like I'm missing someone named Veronica? Where is she?

Okay I've started a new character on the side of my character right now. I tagged Guns, Repair, and sneak. Her special in order of letter is 7,6,4,1,10,7,5. For traits I picked Wacky Wasteland and this time I also wanted to try Fast Shot. I usually pick trigger discipline but I want to see what the accuracy effects. If it only messes up V.A.T.S. then I don't care. If I'm swinging the scope of my rifle around like I'm trying to swat flies with the barrel of my gun... then I'll know not to continue with this trait. I just want to see what it affects since it is very non-descriptive in it's description of what accuracy actually means. Also Compared to picking trigger discipline my shots will fire 40% faster so that might help DPS... really I don't know what's going to happen. I have a bad feeling about trying something new other than trigger discipline since this is a long game and I don't want to get to a high level and have to restart out of frustration since I'm so used to having trigger discipline. Anyway I'll tell all how this trait works out when I'm further into the game :)

Veronica is at the 188 Trading Post.

As for Cass's quest, I don't think they make it clear what to do there, but you have to go snooping in Alice's safe to find the contract. Same thing with the Van Graffs.

Thank you very much for the help :) She was the last member I needed for the trophy "The Whole Gang's Here". She was in one of the only places I hadn't gone to lol... seriously I have the explorer perk on that character and almost every place is filled in except maybe 15 locations and that was one of them

I am no longer playing on Hardcore so I had a question. Why is everyone saying their partners die? Is that a hardcore thing? I've had Cass get knocked unconscious when I took her to the Silver Rush only to find out they wanted to kill her. I survived the encounter but she got knocked out. I guess I'm curious because when I played hardcore I floored it through the campaign and only really recruited Boone and I left him in Novac so I never experienced him falling in battle. Do followers die in Hardcore or are people just saying they die as a term from them getting knocked out in battle?

My new character is level six now. I honestly still can't tell how the -20% accuracy affects gameplay when choosing the Fast Shot trait. It could just affect VATS but I barely use that so I'm not sure. Currently I just have the Ratslayer Rifle so I really don't know what is affected since I never used that gun in my recent playthrough. Until I get a sniper rifle I don't think I will be able to tell what is changed since I used the sniper a good part of the game. I noticed the Ratslayer seems a little shaky but I don't know if that is because of the lack of accuracy or if it just always shakes that much. I do notice that the guns fire alot faster since my last character had trigger discipline... so my shots are 40% faster than before... but also 40% less accurate technically so I'm still trying to see how that effects me. I just notice that I have to reload my guns... alot. I do think the perk will greatly increase the DPS of some guns and maybe will even make the Anti-Material Rifle more bearable. So anyway I'm still checking it out to see if it's a good or awful starting perk

No, the followers die, as in, "Cass had died" comes up on the screen and you lose any associated perks. You have to arm them well, figure out what they can and can't do, and plan ahead if you see something ahead (I backtrack from where I came and figure out how to best approach the situation). I'm playing on Hardcore. You can always reload though, but I don't, unless it's the PC. Next play through I'll play no reloads at all.

I picked the "Better Criticals" perk, so I'll see how that goes with the sniper rifle on Deathclaws and similarly powerful enemies.

I found out what works very well on Power Armor (it says it in its description). :) I could take out the whole Brotherhood with it.

Hmm... I guess it must be on hardcore that followers die :? . It doesn't really matter though since I don't take followers with me. For some reason they intrude on the experience of the game for me. I like traveling alone when I play... for some reason I just can't stand having them follow me. I guess I'm weird but I like feeling like a loner in rpgs. I guess it makes me feel more accomplished when I kill things and really I think it's also that there are no followers I can relate to. They all come off as irritating to me. The only follower I could probably play with is EDE since it doesn't speak or have a personality... it's more like bringing along another piece of equipment for the journey I think. I still don't bring it with me either though just because I don't feel like it. Also I feel distracted when I have followers. Like I'm trying to focus on a battle plan and they are more of a liability than an asset.

Weapons with pulse in the description say they do extra damage to robots and power armor. Also I found something called the Paladin Toaster which would be nice on them if I had a high unarmed combat skill. It's a unique power fist I think :)

Okay so I just got the chip back in the Ring-A-Ding-Ding quest. I lured Benny into the presidential suite and he tried to get me to work for him lol. He told me I could think on what he said and he'd be waiting in the lobby for my reply. The picture says how I felt about his proposal before he even made it to the door. Anyway I posted the picture mostly because I thought he died in a very funny pose. I don't know why he died in such a stupid position, but it made me laugh

I finally completed new vegas, went with the NCR in the end and I have to say, facing the 2nd in command of Caesers legion is HARD! That bumper sword of his is ridiculous!

Absolutely terrifying! Even with T-51B Power armour and a Marksmans Carbine with 100 in guns, took me way over 200-250 5.56 rounds, after the fight I had 1 round left.

Also, I did it in Hardcore. So I feel pretty good about myself :D

I want to join NCR this play through since I've already done Wild Card and I have another character ready to pull off the House Always Wins. How do I go about joining NCR? It doesn't seem as clear on how I'm supposed to join them. I did get confronted by an NCR on the Strip so that's my only lead on how to maybe join them. I think NCR seems like the most interesting faction to join when I look at the games overall faction options.

Also I'm curious as to why you were using the Marksman Carbine that late in the game. It barely does more than the Varmint rifle in DAM. I know it has over 150 DPS but it still seems to be the weakest of the end weapons in my opinion. I guess if you only have like a 4 strength I can understand but if you have 6 to 8 in strength there are way better options. Also even if you can't use higher powered weapons I think the assault carbine has a higher DPS as it's for more frontal assaults where I feel like the marksman carbine is for speed sniping. Also in case you didn't try... the legion actually have a decent DT even though it looks like they are running around in their underwear. It may be more beneficial to use Armor Piercing rounds... even though it looks like they wouldn't have a very high DT.

... Anyways I found another Wacky Wasteland event and again I'm confused. I found a dud atom bomb wedged into the ground out in the middle of nowhere and I got the wacky wasteland indicator that I had seen an event. I mean I saw the dud a-bomb so I can tell it has something to do with that but... I don't know what the joke is supposed to be. It says if I had a higher science I could salvage parts from it so in 2 levels when I have a higher science I'm going to go back and check it out, but for now I'm baffled as to why it's funny. I mean even F3 had a un-detonated nuke in Megaton :?

As a note to trying out Fast Shot as a beginning trait... I honestly don't know what accuracy effects. I'm thinking it effects vats more than anything. I think my rifle might be a tad more shaky but I honestly don't know if it's any more shaky than my last game. I've only noticed a drastic increase in the speed at which I can fire to be honest. Really I think I just get more caught off guard that I can fire faster... so I think this trait is okay to be honest. As far as I can tell though the faster rate of fire is not equated into the DPS ratio because my guns don't claim to be faster even though I know for a fact they do shoot much faster :?

Quickest way to get on the NCR's side I think is to do the missions for the NCR Ambassador in Vegas as soon as they become available. He'll eventually refer you to do missions at Hoover Dam for the NCR.

Thank you for pointing me in the right direction. I wouldn't have found the ambassador since when I was told to see him... I forgot what the messenger said and it wasn't labeled in my quest log :? I'm now doing some of the quests and have been pointed toward Hoover Dam :)

Okay I was just wondering if I was alone here.... Is anybody else truly disgusted with the Legion? I had to reload my save because I didn't want to be vilified by the Legion this early in the game. I went into the Legions Base from Cottonwood cove and just speaking to them made me find them completely arrogant and disgusting. Also since I'm playing as a female character their views on women are worth butchering them all while still alive for... seriously. I don't know why but their sheer arrogance makes me want to slaughter them. I'm glad I'm joining NCR because Caesar will be begging for his pitiful life one way or another. Even if the NCR doesn't take me there first I am going to go off and kill Caesar before the quest even starts up . That guy is screwed up  .

Anyway why I said I had to reload was I was on my way to Hoover Dam and was abducted to be seen by a loser named Dead Sea. Lets just say he was so arrogant I grinded his head into pieces with my mini-gun and his followers were quickly next on the list since they insisted on fighting with me after I obliterated their loserific leader.

Seriously though I think the reputation system in Fallout New Vegas is terribly done. Why I say this is this single act against the Legion brought my status to Vilified. Seriously :? ? I know mauling a bunch of legion into a fine red paste is worthy of being vilified but um... there were no survivors to tell the tale. That is why I think the system is terribly made. Nobody was left to claim I am an enemy. As far as I'm concerned these primitive losers don't have a hive mind so wtf?
