They cant cover ground worth a crap, and are very slow, and dont actually do all that much damage at all unless FULLY charged. Useless in close quarters in a game with extreme mobility.... usually, I find them easy to stop (like the rollers, but the rollers make up for it with other traits), when opponents are using them. And if you want to get your super... HAHA NOPE. You're using a charge gun! Who needs supers?

I'm going to keep messing with them, but they seem *really* bad so far. Players using these seem to very often be at the bottom of the score lists.

I have yet to try a charge gun yet, though I will once my Amiibo 3-pack arrives since Inkling Girl uses one in her challenges. I tend to stick to the machine gun type weapons since they're easier to use and have good ink coverage. I did try the roller during the Global Testfire, but I found it's not as effective in my hands as it appears in anybody else's...

I am LOVING the single player campaign. Real clever platforming stages and GREAT music ( as expected from Nintendo ) beat the first boss and up through stage 6 ( would have tried for beating the 2nd boss but my hands tend to cramp up after long sessions using the Gamepad )

I have had a little interest in it, I think there is a problem that it is actually a rather difficult weapon to master, the Amiibo challenges have given the chance to see its range. The trick I see so far is not to just rely on fully charge, you can do shorter bursts to save time if you don't need to cover longer distances, in fact it can still be very effective by rapid tapping for close range, and actually does not use up much ink then. It specialty of course seems to be sniping from higher ground, I was for a time playing with some equipment of increased swim movement with ninja swimming so you might quickly create a steam by a full charge, and then swim up it fast without opponents knowing so you could ambush along that line. But there is still some experience in knowing how high to aim to get along the ground.

Yeah, I already figured out the bits about the shorter burst and whatnot; covering as much area as possible with it isnt hard to figure out, but even when being efficient the other weapons all can do it much faster. Firing from the high ground seems to be part of the point, but... it never seems to HELP much. Even when seeing enemy players do it, it's pretty easy to take them out most of the time, particularly considering how easy it is to both spot where they are, and where they're aiming... and of course in this game you cant just sit there and snipe the whole time, or you'll score nothing, so that ends up not doing a whole lot. And of course, throw a bomb of any sort up at them and they'll always either A: get blown up, or B: be forced to jump off. Easy targets if they jump off.

The rollers can be pretty good, but I constantly get the impression that lots of players dont use them right. The thing you want to NOT do: charge at an enemy head-on, when that enemy clearly sees you there. If an opponent (that doesnt have a roller) spots you at a distance coming at them, it's best to just dash away when you can. If they spot you but you're already nearly on them when they see you, THEN just keep plowing at them. Getting enemy players to chase you though is one of the best ways to get rid of them; alot of players will happily chase you around corners which naturally is when you can get them easily. Or if you have the ninja ability, you can do that sort of thing much easier, and approach much easier as well. The ranged shot the thing can do doesnt seem worth much, I've learned not to really rely on it; just wastes ink most of the time.

Helps alot if you also have the defense up ability, and the one that gives you ink faster when swimming.

Also, jumping from a high point and landing on an opponent with this (hold down the fire button while in the air to ready it) is particularly hilarious.

What gets dumb though is if you have too many rollers on your team; you're easy prey for any opponent that at all knows what they're doing.

I have used rollers much myself, but indeed the most dangerous I have seen them is clearly when close up, and when my opponent tricked me into getting close by chasing them around a corner or even attacking from the front when the roller has hid to get me.

One of the higher level abilities so far I think is looking down from the screen at the gamepad, because it show when ink is getting thus it is a perfect weapon to know where the opponent team is and when it may be best to dive for a bit and protect your area already.

I do believe you have 15 minutes to edit your post, provided no one else posts in the thread.
If someone posts after you, then you can't edit.

Also those pink/orange orbs you collect in single player are used to buy new gear and upgrades in single player campaign.

Watch that. Just... watch it.

I dont even have the usual barrage of annoyed words for this one. I cant summon them here. My mana is too low.

This... this has officially gone too far. It really has.

I'm still blaming the godforsaken Skylanders for all of this. These blasted things probably wouldnt exist, and thus wouldnt be so irritating, if those accursed things hadnt appeared.

Just beat the single player campaign, that was a tough challenge for the final boss, but super fun. The single player was largely easy for me, except for a few missions that did things that took me by surprise in places, and then the final boss really pushes it with multiple tiers. Also really pushes my joy for the personality of the game, special mention going to the music, which I am specially fond of one that sounds like the original Super Mario Bros Underground Theme for nostalgia reasons, although I have not found anyone post video of the song yet.

I decided to pick up splatoon today. Its really great so far, the online really smooth and I got into matches really quickly today. I kind of wish I would have picked up the splatoon amiibo I saw at target on friday while out looking for the lucina and robin amiibos.

Splatoon Amiibos only unlock special missions, when beaten unlock special gear, which doesn't impact gameplay.

Amiibos aren't the first video game product to be stolen by thieves.
Though the thieves did also take the copies of Splatoon as well.
Games regularly get stolen while in shipment, especially FIFA and Call of Duty each year.

I bet you don't remember the Xbox 360, Wii, and PS2 launch years when they were in very short supply and people would resort to scalping and stealing to get them, especially PS2.

---

As for Splatoon itself, it has officially sold out of physical copies and Amiibos in Japan.
There is wide spread shortages of both the physical game and Amiibos in the North America and EU.

Apparently Splatoon is more popular than Nintendo and retailers expected with Nintendo promising more shipments in the coming days.

Oh, I remember the Wii release. I remember that well. I had the hilarious job of having to get yelled a- er, I mean, sell the things to customers at.... wherever the heck I was at at the time. It was either at the Gamestop or the Toys R Us, whichever. Same difference to me, I worked only the electronics area at the toy store. But either way, we'd get downright RABID customers in, who couldnt understand that they, the Great and Mighty [insert customer name here] couldnt get a Wii because SOMEONE ELSE (how dare they!) bought the last one. Over and over and over and over and over and over and over...

The stupid repeated when the fitness board appeared. I developed a special hate for that thing, I really did.

As for the PS2s.... I try to block out memories of those. I went through ten of them. TEN. Junk, all of them. Absolute trash. The final one, when it started to break down like the others, then had an "incident" with a pond (I am not a patient individual when it comes to electronics), and I sold off every conceivable object related to the thing and had to resist the urge to call in some sort of priest or whatever to perform an exorcism to rid the house of remnants of it's foul presence.

....suffice it to say, I dont like the PS2.

So did you at least redeem your free game(s) or go for the small rebate(s) that Sony was forced to offer regarding the faulty PS2s.

Nah, I probably didnt know about it at the time (or did know, but was too spacey to think to actually do that). I dont remember exactly when this was, but I know that most of those units were the slimline types. I do remember that when I did work at Gamestop, people were constantly bringing the slimline units back to us after the stupid things had died.

In the end, I dont really miss the thing all that much. I had some import games on it, later on (shmups), but a number of those ended up releasing later on the 360 (because... you know, I have NO IDEA why that developer, in Japan, chose that console...) and that thing has been very reliable and doesnt give me any issues, and those versions have more features... so that part worked out. Non-import games tended to be stuff like Dark Cloud (one of the few that I miss) and other things. I honestly dont miss most of them, I didnt find any particular gems on that thing for the most part.

Okay, brief tip for those that might be getting tired of players using the Aerospray weapon (golden gun, fires a billion shots per second): Practice with the Gal guns, or the chargers (which, apparently, not useless afterall). They counter those. Which is good, because pretty much everyone seems to agree that the aerospray guns are very OP right now (and you'll see what they mean). And yeah, they're SERIOUSLY annoying. Expect aero users to be at the top of the post-match score list pretty much every time. Gonna be one of them guns I refuse to use, myself.

.....what, really? When did they announce it? Do you know which map it is?

That sure was fast. I knew they wanted to get going with this quickly, but I didnt think it'd be THAT quickly. I feel like I havent quite learned all of the current maps fully yet! There's so much to them...

Sounds great though. I cant wait to see what the heck the Zapper thing does. Though it'd have a hard time beating out the .52 Gal which is my current favorite (though I use everything, really).

On that note, those really DO counter the heck outta those aero things. I found this greatly satisfying and quite enjoyed it. I also discovered that high level equipment (the sort with 4 ability slots) is *really* expensive. Ordered one from that dude with the hair, and it was like, 15000.... took bloody forever, but I got it, hah!

I swear, this game keeps getting better the more I play. I still have alot to do in the singleplayer stuff though; gone only through the first 2 bosses, I have all the scrolls so far though.

Earlier today in the Micro ND.
Also Rank Battle mode comes out as part of the update.

Splatoon debuted at #2 on the UK charts.

Well, new map is fun, has these moving... things, I dont remember what they're called, that move back and forth along specific lanes. Whole map is mostly corridors. Pretty interesting, though I havent done much on it, game keeps sticking me on Saltspray Rig.

Love the Zapper gun. It has Echolocator and can cover ground very quickly, though is kinda weak on damage. The ground cover though means you can fire the super really often; it's like carrying a big radar unit that is also a gun for no apparent reason. Just have to be careful and not engage enemies TOO often. But I'm finding it quite good.

I havent done the ranked mode yet. Probably wont for awhile, I'd rather have plenty of high level equipment before doing that.

Also there's some sort of golden roller thing, which sounds like trouble.

Cant wait to see what they do next. Though not going to play it as much right now as I otherwise would.... I managed to let myself get overly dehydrated again (this happens frequently) and I tend to feel really off when that happens, harder to concentrate on something like competitive games. I reeeaaaallllyyyyyyy hate it when that happens. It's pretty unpleasant and distracting.
