With the more advent of electronic games and the Internet, roll playing games have quickly died out it seems.

I used to play. I refuse to buy any cards from the post-6th-Edition era, however.

Slivers rule!

Taint a Roll Playing Game, tis a Card Game, and no, its not too expesive to buy cards. at three dollars a pack, plus cards won in Anty games, I have over 5,000 MTG cards. I prefer the Invasion set due to the high presence of Zombies and such, but the Rats from the "Betrayers of Kamigawa" set are very fun to play. Plus you can't forget the Unglued/Unhinged Sets. The Flip cards from the Champions of Kamigawa, like Gokowa the Unjust, and Night-Eyes the Desacrator are really fun to use. I've been playing ever since "Ice-age" set, and the only thing I do't like about the new cards is the new background.

I play, but the closest place to buy cards is 2 hours away.

I still have over 700 Unlimited, Revised, 4th edition, Ice Age, Fallen Empires, Legends and Arabian knights cards. I started playing when the game first came out and I was good at making "underdog" combination decks.
Then it went all to hell around 1995-96. The game just got too obscure and people were getting addicted and spending bigger than I wanted to. My 200-500 card collection began to get overshadowed by people who fired huge budget decks together full of super rare cards and nasty combinations. Normally I could hold them off with some quick witted playing but then people started buying magazines. The game just got too exposed, it was nice when there was just small groups of people into it that didn't take it so seriously.

Fuzzy chickens, that is what I started doing. I would only play with people who had 1995 and under cards. But eventually my friends got out of the game and all I had to play with were a bunch of arrogant geeks with over a grand worth of cards. I mean the type of geeks who argued about star trek episodes and fart all the time in public.

I used to play Magic many years ago. A few other games I've tried more recently are:

SpyCraft CCG (Very good, very clever, full of bluffing, not for beginners though)
http://www.spycraftccg.com/

HeroClix (easy to pick up, and fun- especially if you are into comics. Uses miniatures, not cards)
http://www.wizkidsgames.com/heroclix/

Pirates of the Spanish Main (very simple yet strategic- fun and easy to learn. Uses plastic models that pop out of cards and pop back in afterwards).
http://www.wizkidsgames.com/pirates/

I'd recommend trying any or all of those. They're good fun!

Magic is one of the best I have ever seen. It is too bad that it has become watered down into crap in recent years. Wow, I can't believe 1993-94 was over 10 years ago! It doesn't feel so long ago and I just drug out my old "boit de fromage (box of cheese)" and looked over the cards. They are just as nice as when I put them away. The 4 black border beta edition serra angels are still in nice shape. All the rare black border crossover lands are still shining, they use the original slanted "T" for a tap symbol too. I think it was around the Ice age collection of 1995 when they changed that. I have no idea on what these cards are worth right now but I still intend to keep them.

Playing something like that against me back in the day would bring you down. I see too much swamp land there. I used to load up with 4 dark rituals, 4 mana vaults and 4 lands that you put storage counters on every turn and build them up until you need lots of mana. I don't remember the name of the last one but it was a fallen empires card I think. There was ones for every color.

Most of my better decks could get the mana out early. They were better for one on one play, maybe one on two.

i doubt that, I would have more land, but I ran out. just think, I can pop out my blocking zombies out there for 12 turns, I play one land a turn, pow, I drop Corrupt, 12 damage to you, i gain 12 life. Then I tap another five, drop final punishment, you lose 12 life, you are the weakest link, good bye. or I can get my Death Wish out of my side board, and pow, I play it, pull out Phage, I'm at ten life, I've gotten wall of shadows in play, wall of shadows cannot be targeted by spells that could only target walls, and reduce all combat damage done to wall of shadows to 0. pass the turn. before your upkeep, tap tainted isle to produce one blue, tap three, play time stop, your turn ends. Before my up keep, I tap one black, then three, play Insidoius Dreams, discard Filth, search my libray for a card, shuffle my libray, then put it on top on my libray. I draw my card, hm, guess what I drew. I play a land, tap one black, then one, play tainted well, enchant one of your lands, its a swamp. Filth is in my graveyard, all my creatures have swampwalk, Phage the Untoucable comes over, bonks you for 4, you lose the game due to the fact that if "....If a player is delt damage by Phage the Untoucable, that player loses the game...."

Phage the Untoucable

And there is a good reason why I quit the whole thing at the 'Ice Age' era.
It's all too easy. Magic became "Magic for dummies" and then it all went to crap. I can't even remember my combinations but I seem to remember a few black killers that I had and utilizing some kind of artifact that let me search my deck for certain cards. I don't remember some details of the game. Maybe I should look through the pile again. If I played anyone now I would set a limit at 1995 cards.
