Does anyone else love games where, rather than fighting, you spend most of your time running away and finding places to hide from enemies? (Maybe with platforming elements, maybe not?)

Examples:
Haunting Ground
Clock Tower 3
Oddworld: Abe's Oddysse
Oddworld: Abe's Exoddus

There are some others but those are the ones that spring to mind.

I played and enjoyed the original Clock Tower for SNES.

The Metal Gear series is like that of course. Wasn't the original NES version the first "sneaking around" game?

I like stealth games myself, but I've never really been into the survival horror games like silent hill or clock tower, although I rented clock tower 3 once and it gave my older sister nightmares, hehehe.

Metal Gear, the Thief games, and the Splinter Cell games, do count in regards to the hiding aspect. But those are "Stealth Action" games, where you sneak around, hide in shadows, and fight your way out if you are detected. I'm talking about games that rely less on stealth and more on RUNNING away, and manage to outrun the enemy just for long enough to hide somewhere beyond their reach. Still, similar in the "less emphasis on fighting" part, and some games, like the first two Oddworld games, have elements of both running/hiding and stealth action.

Silent Hill is completely different aside from the horror aspect, since you almost always fight the monsters...though SH seems similar at first glance to Clock Tower it's quite different gameplay wise.

Its a concept that I'm interested in, but I haven't had any experience with it other than Silent Hill, which still has combat in it even if you cant always rely on it. One of the upcoming Silent Hill titles, however, is completely dropping the combat, so it may soon count as one of those.

I keep hearing about Clock Tower, but since I dont have an SNES, I cant try it out.

Clock Tower 3 is on the PS2, if you want to give that one a try.

Clock Tower 3 was apparently a pretty crappy game. Clock Tower for the SNES is easily playable via emulator on any computer made in the last 10 years.

You really shouldn't be fighting unless you're playing them wrong o_O

Zombies and ghosts maybe, if you can call that fighting...but otherwise, if a guard catches you, toss a flash bomb if you're quick enough, and then get the heck out of there.

...or just wimp out and load a quicksave like I do... ¬_¬

Not to mention, fighting usually leads to killing, which causes you to fail the mission.

I'm glad I'm not the only who likes Abe's Exoddus. :D

All right, you're character is one of the most pathetic in the game universe, but that just makes it more interesting.

I like some stealth games like Metal Gear Solid where you sneak up on unsuspecting enemies and then.... BAM! You get them.

I've actually heard great things about Clock Tower 3, it's just not as good as Haunting Ground so it gets a bad rap.

What about Assassin's Creed? I'd consider that game a good run and hide game. After assassinating someone in public, I have to make sure no one saw me doing it and then run. I kinda got bored with it though after awhile and traded it, but I find myself wanting to play it again. I realize how fun it was in that game, the chases were pretty cool.
