Nintendo is the oldest game company ever. It used to be a small card company with only one shop that was established at the end of the 1800's.

This kind of reminds me of when I dicided to do a school assignment on Nintendo. Also apart from what you wrote Nintendo began getting into the game market before the NES/Famicom. I think it was that they were helping another company with their consoel, but I think something fell through and Nintendo ended up using the hardware for their own. Their are other things too including Nintendo's relationship with Mitsubishi, the release of handheld consoels, failed consoel (virtua boy), and even that Sony turned fro helping Nintedo instead deciding to make their own. One place that I would like to check out would be the huge Nintendo buildings that act as shops and museums of Nintendo's sucess. And you might even add in some more of their big franchises including Pokemon which has even become a succesful anime series aswell card series that was bought back from Wizards of the Coast which is unsurprising due to history in card makeing.

Cool, I've never been a nintendo person - heck, I've only recently been into consoles at all (got a PS2 for the kids about 3 years ago). Anyway, I've just been given a Nintendo Wii for my birthday and although some games are great (the force unleashed), I'm not much of a game-player and can't survive levels in the games I'd like to play (eg: Resident Evil).

Any tips on what else we can use the Wii for?

Can you make your own OS boot disks? Linux?
Can you use the internet without having to pay and download their browser?

Nintendo will always be the king of video game companies but I was quite disappointed with the Wii. They're making huge amounts of money by orienting themselves more towards the general population, but there now seem to be very few games on the DS or Wii for serious gamers. The Wii is fun when other people are around to play with you but there are few good games to play solo on it.

I think they had a handheld system before they had consoles.
