Are roleplaying games the new trend? It seems that every single franchise ever gets it's own RPG or MMORPG, but I still can't see how 40k could ever be an RPG, unless you were in the Tau sectors maybe, and even then there would be still be lots of killing.
Actually its just the opposite. Most MMOs are hardly RPGS, they have stats and levelling up and stuff sure but hardly any role play elements. The last MMO out was Dragon Age: Origins and it was out a LONG time after the last RPG before it. Right now we are in the shooter age, every second game is a shooter at the moment.
RPGs are too geeky and you have to use this thing called an "imagination" which most kids brought up on TV don't have. Plus things like managing character advancement involve maths and planning and most of those kids don't consider those fun (they can be

).
While I am sure that Bioware could make a good Warhammer game other companies have already done it and the setting is very light on RPG, "Kill them to take this place!" is about it. Plus the game is about squad and team play, going solo as a first person RPG would not fit the setting, unless it was a hybrid strategy game like Warcraft III?
That's true, MMO's are more about having time than any sort of skills. I would also agree with you when you say that it's the "shooter age". Even when a new RPG comes out it usually isn't worth the money.
Bioware should make KoTOR 3 though, not this MMO...
And Obsidian should be helping them do it.
Sorry that I can't type more but I burned my hand with oil while making dinner.
