I've seen reviews of the game, which are all very positive, and the game has been likened to the gameplay of X-COM and Jagged Alliance, which are games I love to death. Does anyone have this game and can verify whether the comparison is appropriate?

I ask because it looks like it might be less strategy and more grind, which would be not so fun and not at all like the aforementioned games. Japanese turn based strategy games are not very appealing to me generally for this reason, save for exceptions like Fire Emblem and Advance Wars.

I don't know the other games you mention but I can confirm that VC is a GREAT game. Amazing cartoonish graphics and carachters (the main one is very Aspie-like) are probably the two best features, gameplay is fun, I very rarely play strategy games so I'm not able to make a comparison, but I would definitely reccomend this game, I haven't finsihed it cause I couldn't get past a mission and there are tons of other games to play but VC is definitely one of those games that will remain in my memory. I heard they're also planning to do an Anime out of it BTW.

My one complaint is that the history-lessons don't seem to add up. The explanations are often quite wishy-washy.

I hope it's OK if I bumped this thread.

Valkyria Chronicles is a great game. I couldn't recommend enough to go and buy it now! It's really fun and it has a great story and music. Although I always get horrible ranks on battles, need to do better! =P

Anyone who owns a PS3 needs to buy this game. It's only like $20 almost everywhere you look. Support good games from SEGA so they keep making good games =P Last thing we need from SEGA is more Iron Man

For the love all good gaming. This game is a must buy. Sure you can read the reviews but you can never feel the gameplay from it. Go and play it! That and I get almost all A Ranks using a Guide + Videos. Hahaha. They even got a new DLC from a few months ago.

I bought a bunch of DLC during a SEGA PSN Christmas sale. I haven't gotten around to playing it though, need to beat the main game first.

Has anyone here done the side mission Largo's Passion? =P it's great.

I was enjoying this a lot when i started playing it. I put it down for a while now though because i got stuck. Usually i obsess over and look up all the info i would ever want on a game such as guide to help me when i get lost, but i do not want to do that here. i like that they characterize all the characters. When it comes to war games i always feel a close connections with the snipers or stealth characters due to their lone wolf roles. I feel that way myself sometimes, plus the fact that i am patient makes me a great sniper.
