listen to this my dad played morrowind which was the previous game he did all sorts of stuff he could make his dude fly which he could make potions of flight he could muliply food (which was a hack though) but the best of all was the chameleon suit it was made up of grand soul gems which gives it 20% percent chameleon so he applied it to his all his armor pieces his helmet, curiass, gaunlets, greaves and boots so he would steal anything in the cuz no one saw him. his enemys coudnt do a thing about it he just killed them thats all

HOW TO DO IT
1. GET, SOUL TRAP OR BUY GRAND SOUL GEMS

2. YOU MUST BE ALLOWED IN THE ARCANE UNIVERSITY

3. AT LEAST HAVE 5,000 GOLD BECAUSE THE ALTAR MAKES YOU PAY IT

4. HAVE GOOD ARMOR GLASS OR DADRIC WORKS (WELL NOT THAT IT'S THE ONLY ARMOR THAT WORKS ANY THING WORKS EVEN CLOTHES)

Odd, IIRC, Oblivion was engineered to prevent that from being possible. I suppose I was in error on that.

The only downer is that to get it, you must use something with enough pieces to it. Specialty items likely make it impossible to reach 100% with what "slots" remain open for custom enchantments.

Really just a matter of having a high enough skill in Mysticism, and enough grand soul gems with good enough souls. Using small stuff like amulets and rings helps too.

It can't be done in Oblivion. Not without mods (i.e. cheating).

First, chameleon is not very effective in Oblivion unless it is 100%. It makes it progressively easier to sneak around with chameleon, but the player isn't invisible until 100%. And the higher the chameleon the more costly the spell.

I forget what the max chameleon effect can be enchanted with a grand soul gem. It is something like 8%. You'd need to wear 13 items with 8% chameleon to get to 100%. Player can't wear 13 items! In Morrowind we could. Morrowind would let us wear shirt and pants, then a robe, then 10 pieces of armor, and then two rings and one amulet! 8O In Oblivion you can only have a shirt/pants/shoes, OR a robe/shoes, OR armor. And there are only 4 (I think???) pieces to a full set of armor. Plus two rings and amulet.

It is much smarter to use plain old invisibility spell. Bind it to a hot key. Use it when you get in a pinch. If you interact with the world the invisibility wears off, so use the hot key to re-inviso yourself. A 60 second invisibility isn't very costly at all. Just remember to reapply it after using doors and opening containers, and talking to NPCs.

The strength of the chameleon effect depends on the soul you used to enchant the item.
petty soul = 8%
grand soul = 20%
