There is none more memorable to me the Missingno, from pokemon, there are fews things conected to it including rare pokemon with high levels and the item cheat. It basicly was the Glitch pokemon.

Also some special mention I had to some of the games on the N64 that alowed being able to see through walls, via moving the camera at the right angle in games like Mario 64 and Banjo-Kazooie.

That is all I can think of right now.

I don't know if anyone else has ever found it, but I found a glitch in Legend of Zelda: A Link to the Past.

In level 2 (the water level), right when you start, you jump off the platform and into the water...quickly use the mirror before you land, and if you time it just right, you'll reappear back at the beginning of the level, walk very slowly up, and jump into the water. Now when you try to go back on land, you'll be swimming in it instead.

You can't go very far, but it's kind of neat. And besides, I felt pretty special for finding a glitch that no one else had.

No question: the Rare Candy/Missingno glitch in Pokemon Red and Blue. That glitch is probably what spawned all of the fake "if you do this (something extremely odd) then this (something extremely awesome) will happen" stories just because it made no sense to kids why talking to the old man in Viridian and then flying to Cinnabar Island and surfing up and down the coast would give you a ridiculous amount of whatever was currently in your sixth item slot.

I actually read the Bulbapedia article on Missingno recently, and it made that glitch and several others make so much more sense because it explains how the game normally stores data and how the glitches arise from that.

That glitch was awesome for so many reasons. It did something incredibly useful, and you could feel really cool showing it to someone because it felt like so much of a secret.

For me, the most memorable game glitch was the Sketch Bug in the original copies of Final Fantasy III US.

I spent a lot of time messing around with it and i still remember it very well.

Basically, in the first editions of FF 3 US there was a glitch that could be triggered by using Relm's Sketch skill in certain battles. The easiest way to initiate it was to try sketching invisible Intagirs on the triangle island in the World of Balance. I also found it could happen quite often when sketching in Hidon's Cave in the World of Ruin( which is where I came across the bug initially).

What happens when the glitch occurs... Well it basically screws up the game. However... using the glitch is a gamble, a game breaking one at that.
Most of time, characters would immediately change into other characters, get hit with random status effects, enemies would become garbage and menus would become scrambled. Controlling the characters becomes near impossible(if you try messing around with the battle menus, you can easily find many glitched up attacks and magics.) A lot of times I remember, the Glitch would cause General Leo to appear in the battle, albeit glitched up.

Anyways the gamble is that the player has to survive and escape the glitched up battle. Easier said than done since 9 times out of 10 you won't be able to control the characters anymore and the game will just lock up. However... there is a slight chance you can make the characters escape from the battle. Slight.

Manage to escape that and there's a good chance you will net some unbelievable rewards. I'm talking Illumina Swords, Paladin Shields and many other useful items stuffed by the 100s into the inventory. Also, over 10,000 dirks crammed into your inventory. Dirks ain't that useful sure, but you can sell them all for more than enough money to last the rest of the game.

Only downside to the glitch that I can recall is that you lose Sabin's best weapons, the Tiger Fangs and Dragon Claw(if you had them when you triggered the glitch) with no way to recover them.

The glitch is a huge game breaking gamble as you can see. Most of time, the glitch will just screw up the battle and lock up the game and very, very rare occasions it can erase a saved game(happened to me once, but only once out of my many times experimenting with the glitch).

Future versions of FF 3 US had the glitch removed so only the original, first edition copies have this glitch.

See http://masterzed.cavesofnarshe.com/Game ... 3sktch.txt for more info.

In true the FFVI (3) glitch didn't happen only on intangirs, but while sketch on any invisible ennemies (And you can make most monsters invisibles.) Another game breaking glitch in this game is that spells (Including the instantly fatals X-xone and Doom) got 100% chance of sucessfull hit against invisibles ennemies, including Kefka! It's know as the Vanish/X-xone trick.

Missingno, it gave birth to my best Pokemon, a maxxed out Magmar with psychic, guaranteed to beat Mewtwo no matter how overpowered Mewtwo was, plus it pissed my friend off when I beat him with Fire blast.

I've doubted the Vanish/X-Zone/Doom thing was a glitch. I remember it was mentioned in the game guide for FFIII. Exploitative glitches aren't usually covered in official strategy guides. More likely it was just some secret the programmers left in.

Sketch bug vid. No audio but demonstrates it well.

Some other memorable glitches?...
The GTA games are rife with glitches but a couple of the more interesting ones still stand out to me.

For GTA 3 and Vice City there was the Flying Tank. Can't truly call it a glitch by itself since it does require using the game cheats, but since it's probably not something the developers intended, it is a glitch; a glitchy cheat. Anyways, there's a cheat for floaty physics to be applied to vehicles. It applies to the several ton military tanks as well... Well with the cheat, all one has to do is take a tank, twist it's turret around and keep firing the gun repeatedly. The turret acts like a rocket engine and with a decent straightway, the tank takes right off into the air like an aircraft. Go ahead, fly around the city in a tank. I still say it's best way to get around in those games. (Landing can be bit a tricky though)

Another GTA glitch, this one from 4. The Swingset of Instant Death.
On the easternmost island there is a swingset, nestled in some apartments in the southeast edge of the island. You'll kind of know once you find it, cause it appears to be "popping" with debris animations every so often. Anyways, approaching it on foot is deadly. Go near it and just hang around a bit if you dare. Eventually your character will get pounded by the invisible fist of an angry god and die instantly.
But that's that's not the fun part. The fun part is taking a vehicle up to the swingset and positioning it just right so that the angry god fist launches the vehicle a good third across the game's cityscape. People actually test this thing to see how far they can launch themselves across the game .I've messed with thing so much out of boredom. Whatever the impact is, is deforms the vehicles unlike anything else in the game. I think this swingset inflicts the most damage of anything in the entire game.

edit: Had to fix the videos. They got posted in wring order. :{

Another missingno. fan here :P

For the sake of originality, though, the next most memoriable glitch for me was the screen warp glitch in the black & white version of The Legend of Zelda: Link's Awakening. Basically, if you bring up your map right before the screen starts scrolling when you move to another section, the area changes but anything in the current screen remains where it is(For example, say you did it moving right, and there were a few enemies. The enemies would get pulled over as well, and you'd retain your position at the right of the screen). This has been used to speedrun the game in under 6 minutes.

The video below has some other glitches in it, but it primarily shows the one I"m referring to above, and shows how you'd use it for a speedrun

don't have a video but the slingshot glitch in vigilate 8 second offense. it happens randomly at times you'll get caught somewhere and then get flung across the screen. good fun.

I recall this one awesome glitch I once evoked in Majora's Mask but couldn't replicate when I was in Ikana Valley and I was fight one of those ninja things that pop out of the ground when you wear their mask. I was feeling a little bored so I switched to Zora form and fought him I accidentally hit the flame wall around me (In Deku Scrub or Zora form this is instant death). Instead of dieing I was on fire and able to swim in mid air I've tried for 2 days to recreate it.
