Hey, I'm thinking of downloading a game for the first time (fed up with losing the CDs and CD keys all the time).

Does anyone know a good site for downloading them? I don't mind paying for them, I just want one that doesn't scam me or deliver a heap of viruses at the same time

thanks :)

Yep, definitely Steam. They have a lot of games (not just valve), discount prices and you never have to open the CD tray again. :)

http://www.gog.com/ is supposed to be a good one too, though I've personally never tried it.

Steam and Impulse are digital platform distributors. Same with Direct2drive (Course I advise against these guys)

Well, you could pick what the others said or take a risk and use the Pirate Bay, I haven't used it though I've been tempted. Everything's free.

DRM hurts Loyal Customers in their attempt to stop piracy. In the end, everybody loses.

There is also "good ol' games" (www.gog.com). They have a lot of the classics (The Earth 2100 series, Spellforce) from 1995 to current (yes, you do have to pay for them).

yes drm i dumb, another reason i do most of my shopping at steam, although some games like grand theft auto 4 still has them, just read there forums before bying to see if your getting a game with drm or not.

i also present this to ever one who thinks its ok to pirate

http://www.penny-arcade.com/comic/2010/2/19/

in my personally opinion, people who pirate games need to be shot, mainly because of there attitude to it, i visit many video game forums like the escapist, and every one that pirates trys to justify it like there doing some thing morally right, and that discusses me to no end.

also get mount and blade, awesome game.
