Trouble re-installing WoW--need techie help

I am in over my head on this problem. Two weeks ago, my daughter's computer crashed. She was in a guild on WoW and was devastated. The hard drive was ruined. For over a week my husband stalled about buying a new computer, attempting to buy and install a new hard drive in ther old computer, but finally went out and got a new one.

For the past three days we have tried to re-install the basis WoW game from her account onto the new computer, but it stops at about 30 percent. I've tried to read and understand the tech support info on the WoW site, but don't understand it. I feel like an idiot, and my husband and I are stressing out, as nothing works. The old computer had a built-in WI Fi and the new one doesn't. It uses a router, My son's computer is the main computer and his WoW stuff works just fine. Any ideas? I'm so stupid in the world of computers, I don't know what questions to ask.

The easiest suggestions that I have would be: 1. check that you have all of the latest windows updates; 2. copy the entire game from your sons computer onto a flash drive and put it on your daughters (this is suggested by a blue at: http://wow-blue.com/technical-support/t ... at-44.html).

Ok, hmmmm, what operating system are you using? If the new computer is on Win 7, it may not be compatible. If that's not the case, and you're installing from the discs, you may have the copy that uses 4-7 discs (when one is finished installing, you have to put the next disc in). Are you getting any messages when you hit the 30% mark?

I just go to account management and download it strait off the website. It takes about 8 hours but, you usually get a fairly recent version and, spend less time patching.

Also I just bought a cheap computer with windows 7 about 2 months ago and did this over night.

Thanks everyone for the help. I think some of the problems are fixed, as the download is now at 72 percent. I convinced my husband to move the computer to the main outlet in my son's room last night after he went to sleep, and I also convinced him to look at some of the suggestions on the WoW tech support site. It could be that he followed some of those suggestions after I went to sleep. Anyway, its all a mystery to me. My brain hurts, trying to figure out computer problems!!

(There was a message at about 30 per cent to install the disc, which was very confusing, because we never used the disc method--we installed/downloaded directly from the WoW intstaller.

As background, my husband doesn't like/understand why people play these games. I helped my kids download and install the games in the first place, and am paying for the service. There are some "control" issues going on with all this, as I explained in another thread. Kind of sad.

And grats on standing up to your husband, something like Wow can be an important social outlet to people with aspergers.
