based upon the economics, it is pretty much a necessity. People really aren't buying new games because they have already found that one game title that they invest all their time into. Game studios need to profit in order for the industry to keep moving forwards. Now if it were like $5 a month, I wouldn't mind. If it would be along the lines of $15, I wouldn't play. But yes, games are gradually becoming more and more expensive to make. The average video game nowadays costs just as much as the average Hollywood movie to produce. This is basically why I don't care too much for piracy, because when the money base gets bled too much, the companies are just gonna feel more justified in releasing total crap games. Yes Ill admit to some piracy, but the thing is if I don't care for the game, I get rid of the illegal copy and if I like it, I buy a real copy. Indie games could be the future BUT have YOU ever tried to make your own game? Even with the necessary knowledge its a hard thing to do.

This really doesn't affect me much anyways since I am a solo gamer. I don't give a rats ass about multiplayer unless its a fighting game such as BlazBlue, Street Fighter, or Soul Caliber.

Call of Duty doesn't interest me at all.

I like RPGs, the longer and more immersive the better. I'm waiting for Dragon Age 2 and Mass Effect 3.

Call of Duty is dead to me and many PC gamers. The pricing isn't right for a shooter. It is alright for an mmorpg.

Thats how I am for the most part. I like the older CoD games, but after 4 it went downhill for me.

I am definitely an RPG person though. So wishing for a Baldur's gate 1 and 2 remake, but that wont be happening. Looking forward to playing the new witcher, Dues ex 3, X-com, and SW: The old republic (although The Old Republic looks a little too cartoony for me, seems like they tried to copy WoW with that IMO.)

They will do it and I have no doubt many people will pay. I have never played a COD game, but I don't think I'd ever pay monthly for a shooter even if I had.

As much as I love Modern Warfare 2, I wouldn't pay for black ops. My brother already has to pay for xbox live so I don't see the point in paying extra just for one game. Now if you could buy it with mircosoft points and pay with microsoft points that'd be better.

I remember I played Planetside for a few months. It was ok, but it got boring and it wasn't worth the monthly fee. The same applies here, I think.

I mean, when a full MMORPG like Guild Wars 2 is going to be single-purchase only, how can a console FPS justify charging a monthy fee?

What upsets me about all of this is the fact CoD games uses a Peer2Peer to connect other people together. That money is just gonna right into their pockets sense there isn't any servers to maintain. It's simply pure greed.

They don't even have dedicated servers? Stay classy, console developers.

Even the PC version of MW2 is Peer2Peer. There was a massive stink about it before the game was released about it. Sadly it didn't stop many people from still getting it.
