It was an awesome campaign. Now I am off to multiplayer and checking sc2 maps for custom scenarios to play with others.

Beat under 8 hours and on Brutal =P

Only an 8 hour single campaign . . . that's a ripoff. Hope it didn't cost more than $30 to purchase. I think I'd wait a few more months, or maybe until the 3-pack is available and buy all at once for $40-$50.

Actually it's longer then 8 hours and most players either complete it on normal or hard and around 20-30 hours. I actually took one entire day sat down and speed play it while knocking out most achievements on Brutal. I noticed that the number units increased in difficulty and for timed missions. It's either longer or shorter for that type of mission. I just really like the challenge and conquering stuff fast =P. So basically, it's 20-30 hours depending on how fast or slow you take the missions. Don't just assume its 8 hours because I was taking my sweet time on normal before switching to Brutal =P. Now for Custom maps.

Most people bought it for 60... The truly devoted (or insane?) bought the Collector's Edition for 110 dollars (including tax). Also the CE has some awesome goodies. I flipped through the art book, noticed a comic book, didn't open the soundtrack or the behind the scenes dvd. It even has a "Jim raynor dogtags usb drive." It's pretty freaking sweet.

You don't think the extra money for the Collector's Edition is worth it? Apparently, you didn't know that the Collector's Edition also contains the full versions of the original Starcraft+Broodwar, both pre-installed on that "Raynor's Dogtag" usb flashdrive.

It was definitely worth it for me. Everyone else probably thinks not. I have the box in front of me on my desk =P.

I haven't bought a copy myself yet. I'll try to get it in a months time after I've gotten back from a conference and gotten myself a new computer. Unfortunately they will be back to full price then. At the moment most games are being sold at at 10% less than usual in the stores here in South Africa. This decision was made mostly to celebrate the launch of Starcraft 2.

This will be a bargain bin buy for me. Don't get too excited about RTS games, the editor though does seem quite interesting.

I just saw the price tag on it . . . $60 . . . effin . . . dollars. Yeah, I'll definitely wait for the 3 pack in the next year or so. No game is worth that much in this lifetime. If Blizz wants my money, they can wait a bit longer and get exactly what they deserve for it.

Ok, I've bought a copy of Starcraft 2 today, before it gets completely sold out, although I'm not going to play it until I get back from the three week summer school on particle physics that will be going to. Although I'm going to be getting a new laptop computer then anyway, the system requirements are low enough that I could even play it on the six year old computer I'm on now if I weren't short on RAM, which is in fact the only system requirement I'm short of.

I've obviously haven't tried installing the game yet but I've got a question for those of you that have. On the back of the box there is a notice in small print saying that you have to register a battle.net account (free) to install the game. Searching on the internet, I found that this doesn't seem like proper DRM, like the draconian kinds I've heard about in other games, but is rather just a product activation to authenticate your copy. What I'm not sure about is that most official sources, including interviews from Blizzard itself, says it's just a one time activation, after which you can play as much single player as you want offline, but I've also found a few comments from people on forums who say that the game requires reactivation every 30 days.

Ravenitrius, can you, or anyone else who's installed and played the new Starcraft, confirm for me if this is a one time activation only or if it has to be activated every 30 days even for the single player campaign?

You have to be signed into bnet once then every 30 days if you want to go offline and play singleplayer. Online is only there for the Achievements and multiplayer

Custom maps are wonderful. There's even a SC2 RP Community.

Bought it a few days ago, finally installed it [yes I procrastinate] yesterday. Looking forward to firing it up. I love the Zerg.

Here in a bit when the mail comes I should be receiving a late birthday check for about $200 from my grandmother(no I'm not spoiled(IMO) she just likes to send huge amounts of money for bithday gifts to all her grandkids)

So now that I know the Collector's Edition has SC+Brood War pre-installed on that flash drive plus all the other great stuff, even though I don't (yet) have a PC that can run it, I'll be going out and ppurchasing the Collector's Edition and putting a pre-order on some placeholder item with the rest of my money until a release date for 3DS is announced with the remainder of my money.
