The Ur-Quan Masters

I've recently been playing the Linux version of The Ur-Quan Masters. It was originally called Star Control II when it was made in 1992 but Star Control is now a trademark of Atari.

Has anyone else here played the Star Control games? If so, what is your favourite alien race?

That is one of my favorite games! I love the way they managed to create a universe with so many planets to explore without requiring a lot of game memory.

My favorite race would have to be the Zoq Fot Pik.

Star Control II is one of my all time favorite games. I still have the original box and the printed map that game with the game. My favorite race would of course be the Spathi . I also very much enjoyed Star Control III, and I think the criticism of it is unjustified. It is very highly story driven, and has a very intricate and detailed plot. I very much enjoyed the colonizing aspect of it and wish they had done more with it. It definitely has a different feel from Star Control II, but is still a very good game in its own right.

How about the Orz, their speech seems to be made to be deliberately humorous.

Is else here fans of the Star Control games? What do you guys think of the story lines?

Yes, I don't always like the fighting part since I'm always a big fan of arcades. What specifically about the game did you find difficult?
