The class selection was nothing more than an arbitrary way to allocate skill points, you can still be an archer, rogue, warrior, battlemage etc... you just have to put the skill points into the right skill slots manually.

But I use to make my own classes. I never choose from their selection.

Then there should be no problem, if you want to make a certain "class" for a character then just allocate the skill points necessary for them to excel in what their "class" does.

I LOVE the Elder Scrolls series. Though I only started with Morrowind. Still, I look forward to the new game. And I read that Bethesda is using a new game engine, so I look forward to seeing how that turns out.

I agree with this. Your class in previous games isn't much more than a word on your character sheet. The absence of that word shouldn't impede your ability to roleplay as whatever sort of specialist you want.

Then this change should impact you even less.

I can't really imagine using one of the pre-defined classes in an Elder Scrolls game, either. This new system should make the whole thing more fluid.

*runs fifty laps of the kitchen

Yes!! ! The games not the generic looking crap Oblivion was! That looks as good as Morrowind :D
They are actually focusing on atmosphere. And quests are randomized, so it's clearly going to be as open ended as the other games! My dreams have come true! Yes!! !

I just hope the environment isn't bland.(all tundra) although i could understand that from a story viewpoint it would be boring from and eye-gasm viewpoint.

EDIT: just read the third page F*ck yeah, also the major skill thing also helped you allocate your stats, I'm with (insert name here) the whole dumb down thing is dumb, the only advantage it has is in MMORPG's where replay value is for the most part unneeded and useless.

enchanting? has there even been a skill ending in aft? is that smithing at the right edge? sucks that they're getting rid of class design someone will likely add it back in if there are mods though, they should have at least made it optional.

also don't miss the http://www.gameinformer.com/b/features/ ... ombat.aspx article linked in this page it also looks interesting

EDIT: Combat system looks hit or miss but like what the changes sound like.

Beat me to it man. If those are the actual in-game graphics then this is bound to be a pretty sweet game. Let's hope it has good gameplay to match.
