He's sad that video games are all about violence and killing. Can't say I disagree.

Video games are not all about violence and killing.

Try Zootycoon... it is all about careing for the animals and their habitats.

Rollercoaster tycoon... it is all about fun theme parks!

The sims... it is about life.

there are so many more that have little or nothing to do with killing.

Or, adventure games like The Longest Journey and Syberia, which are both awesome. ;)

Woah! The director of Pokémon said that? I suddenly have respect for Pokémon.
I've always held a grudge against the franchise because it depicts such a gimmicky reductionist view of zoology,
as if ALL of nature can be cataloged, and as if any living being can become a subservient slave, or a trophy piece for a collection.
But relative to the fanatical obsession first-person-shooters these days, Pokemon seems almost righteous and wholesome  .

I don't play videogames anymore, but my favorite game ever is LittleBigPlanet — hands down.

"The majority of the games look the same" Oh that doesn't sound familiar!! !

Look I know that some of you will be a little fried at me when I say this, but the Poke'mon games are just tweaked versions of Red and Blue version. There I said it. Don't believe me?

You're a kid in a baseball hat running around a fictional landscape capturing monsters to beat a bunch of people to give you some badges so you can fight four guys and claim to be the best... until the next game where you have to worry about catching another 150.

I'm sorry if anyone's offended, I really am. I know these games have a huge fanbase (and even I admit I LOVE puzzle league) but I just gotta throw this out there. I just don't get what is so much fun about doing the same thing over and over. Can we get some change maybe? How about twisting the story a bit. Remember when everyone thought Giovanni was Ash's dad? Why didn't any of the writers take that idea? Do we really find out after all this time that fan fiction can produce better poke'mon games than the writing staff?

DON'T BE. If someone gets offended at a videogame critique ... they got serious issues and need to find something better in life to believe in.

No, not the director of Pokemon.
Satoshi Tajiri is the CREATOR of Pokemon, who has Asperger's Syndrome.

I have to agree with Masuda right there.

Last year, we had games like Epic Mickey and Sonic Colors to mix things up.

I definitely agree, though I'm a bit of a hypocrite, I play TF2 and Killing Floor frequently.

I still prefer games that focus on other gameplay elements over your standard military-based game.

Agree, and I never cared much for FPSes - I just don't like the style of gameplay.
