I have found that a fair amount of my spare times spent playing puzzle games. To a point of getting behind on my bills. I am tired of living this life, obsessed about things that literally don't matter at all. How can I shift my focus to something that actually creates something more important than a high score?

I used to like such games as well, and I still do to some extent, however, you are correct in that, for the most part, they don't matter at all, except as a potential stress reliever or for the occasional intellectual workout.

Consider this. These games, for example, Sudoku, usually have a most optimal solution. But chances are you aren't going to find it, and wouldn't know if you did.

A computer can easily calculate it though. You probably like the sense of accomplishment that the levels or points give you. My roommate is like this. If he can do it without having to stand up and earns points for it and can move up levels, he becomes addicted to it.

You should find more productive activities to engage in. For example, karate has levels. Rock climbing has levels...or at least the routs do.

I've had gaming addictions before. I had to get rid of my CDs each time - only way to cure it for sure. Go cold turkey. Unplug your internet if you have too. Go buy books on your favorite subject - not online books: paper&binding books. Every time you feel the urge to play, grab a book and go to the nearest park or coffee shop right away: anywhere you can read but can't play. After a week or two of abstinence, my urge to play games would always subside.

I can shift my addiction to video games at will. After being way laid from my body my choice of life has become universal. The addictions to video games I once had were all fear based.
Fear based by way of hiding from and shunting out all experiences of ridicule abuse and bullying.
I was hooked as a child and found respite from the worlds terror. That fearful child in me has grown up.
With the fear gone the addiction has dried up.

Thus do I proclaim my truth : D

wow I realize I'm saying I have "Wrung out" my fear of the worlds terror!
how far I've come to say this as truth in being.
