Okay so I know this is Mega Man Legends, but just let me explain here.

Here's the deal. There were 3 games in the Mega Man franchise that were released around 1998, 1999 and 2000. These games were Mega Man Legends, it's spin-off The Misadventures of Tron Bonne and Mega Man Legend's sequel, Mega Man Legends 2. Now those games had numerous problems like the boxy graphics and the game controls and others. But overall, it was still quite a popular game, enough to get people wanting a Mega Man Legends 3. So for roughly 10 years, people hoped for Legends 3 to be made. Some even begged and pleaded to Capcom, the owner of the Mega Man franchise, to make the game. All hope seemed lost until............

In late 2010, Keiji Inafune, the creator of the Mega Man franchise and a then-employee of Capcom, finally announced Mega Man Legends 3 on the Nintendo 3DS. But even better, Mega Man Legends 3 would be intended to be the first video game in history to be made as a collaboration between game developers and fans and gamers.

Now you're wondering "how were they gonna pull it off?". Answer's simple. The DevRoom was set up at CapcomUnity's website, where fans and gamers can join it and submit ideas for the game and input for it too. Even polls were established for members to vote and choose what would be in the game what wouldn't. Even contests were held for members to join and the winning entries were added into the game.

For months, things went smoothly with no problems. The Legends 3 development team were also gonna release a Prototype version of the game at the Nintendo e-Shop for the 3DS. At the time, the main game was 30% complete while the Prototype was 99% complete. Even Capcom has many games coming out in 2011 and 2012 and weren't facing any financial problems and still aren't. All was well until.............

Just 2 days ago as of this writing, Capcom announced the cancellation of the game and the Prototype, citing that the game did not meet a number of criterias.

Now this is something of a rant because I have a number of reasons why I and everyone should be pissed off about this.

Firstly, Capcom didn't state what those criterias were.
Secondly, they could've given the Prototype game a chance and see if there's enough people who want the complete game made or not. Even the Prototype was 99% complete with no problems. But Capcom also cancelled that.
Thirdly, this is a game that many have been waiting for roughly 10 years now.
Fourth, many had bought the 3DS just for this game.
And finally, Capcom, or more specifically Capcom Europe, had blame us fans for the cancellation, stating that there was not enough activity in the DevRoom.

Now I myself was apart of the DevRoom and I can tell you that there was plenty of activity there and the developers had given their all for the game, even when Keiji Inafune left Capcom.

So as you can see here, this has pissed me off. For the past years, I and everyone have been very patient with Capcom but now it seems that the Capcom I knew since young was long gone.

Keiji Inafune left Capcom because, according to him, he felt Capcom wasn't doing enough as a game development company and also about the Japanese gaming industry is dying. After all this, I can finally understand what he meant by that.

'Nuff said, I and some million others have been patient enough with Capcom but this clearly is the last straw. From now onwards, the only time I will ever buy a Capcom product is if they put the Mega Man Legends 3 project back on. Yes folks, I and many others will be boycotting Capcom. I won't be discouraging anyone from buying their products though.

Anyway, if there's anyone who wants Mega Man Legends 3 done, here's a few links to Facebook groups who want Mega Man Legends 3 done:-

Revive Mega Man Legends 3

100000 strong for bringing back Mega Man Legends 3

Both these groups are joint together as Operation Phoenix. If you want, support them. They need the support.

Oh and if there's anyone who's saying if the game sucks or anything like that, I can assure you that I have seen the gameplay for Legends 3 and it look phenomenal. For one thing, they have solved many problems with the previous 2 games. Also, the gameplay looks kick-ass. If anyone wants to see it, here's gameplay footage for the game, atleast the footage for Rockman DASH 3 Prototype (In case you don't know, Rockman DASH is the Japanese name for Mega Man Legends). Forgive me if it looks so low-quality. It was taken from Nico Nico Live at Ustream so yeah the quality of the video look crappy but that's the only kind of actual footage I can get so bare with it. I'll also throw in the English trailer for the Prototype to compensate for the crappy quality:-

Oh and in-case you don't know, the player character here for the prototype is a new character called Barrett. He's only the main guy for the Prototype. I myself don't know if he was gonna be in the main game but it would've been possible.

Anyway, sound off with your comments below on your thoughts on this.

You've got to be kidding me! I've been expecting for this game since it was announced.

Also, the series had some of the best voice acting I've ever heard.

No, I wasn't even aware of it. But it would be a great idea.

I predict a fan sequel for Megaman Legends 2 coming in a few months. I wouldn't be surprised if Capcom issued a cease and desist letter to the developers, though, just like Sega did to Streets of Rage Remake.

On the other hand, Capcom doesn't seem to be bothered about PyWright, so maybe there is hope. Plus, I think Keiji Inafune would approve the fan sequel.

Personally I think making a fan sequel would bring injustice to those who worked so hard on the game. Just look at the gameplay footage at the first post. There's many improvements to the graphics if you look carefully. I'd rather support a petition for the game project to be brought back on than to support a fan-made game. It seems right for this project to be brought back. I mean we either have always had officially made games and fan-made games but this is the first time where it's neither and both at the same time, if you get what I mean. The footage you see at the first post is the result of that effort, with whatever resources and budgeting they have. But if you want to support those who want this game back on, there are links for petitions at the first post. The second one in particular, 100000 strong for bringing back Mega Man Legends 3, is aiming for 100,000 members so that they have enough to show to Capcom that this game is worth making. As of this writing, they currently have 11,746 members, including myself. The other one you can join also. They too need the support.

Well now I'm doubly confused.

#1. I didn't know this game was coming out. When I heard about it, I had it confused with this game: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Mega_Man_Universe

#2. I could've sworn Universe was coming out for the DS?? Maybe I've been confusing it with Legends 3 this whole time.

Apparently this one is cancelled too :?

Oh, great. Even though I'm not a fan, still.

Now Shantae 3, Sonic Generations, and Kingdom Hearts: Dream Drop Distance are the only things left to make me consider a 3DS (especially the first two).

Still not a bad line up......

Especially if Sega manages to not screw up Generations.....*fingers crossed*

Plus, Dream Drop Distance looks sick, from what I saw of the trailer.

And lets face it, we all love Shantae.

It's totally ridiculous that they cancelled it... seems possible that they are going to let the Mega Man franchise die out. Capcom has such great possibilities with the franchise - including financial - but they clearly lack the competence to see it. I guess that is why the creator of Mega Man/Rock Man left the company.

I was hoping for Mega Man Legends 1-2 to be put in the Playstation store before I played 3. Those are some of the only Mega Man adventure games I haven't gotten through, and they're hard to find used at a reasonable price.

I've gotten through Mega Man 1-10, Mega Man X 1-8, Mega Man Zero 1-4, Mega Man and Bass, and Mega Man X Command Mission. I'm also subscribing to the new Mega Man comic book.
