It's all there in the title: Which titanic boss encounter is your all-time favourite?

Mine is the fight against "The End" in Metal Gear Solid 3: Snake Eater, mainly because of the sheer intensity of a sniper-on-sniper battle of attrition. Good times.

So, which is your favourite, and why?

I can't think of a single boss battle I enjoyed.

This one was interesting though. The real boss doesn't start til 3:00 but watch a bit before it if you want to get a feel for what the game was usually like, and just how strange the boss was in comparison.

I really like the crash bandicoot boss battles! i'ts funny stuff, yet challenging....

I like the boss fight with Vampire Annette in Castlevania: The Dracula X Chronicles. It's the only intentionally emotional boss fight to ever effect me, because Richter/Maria are forced to fight somebody they've been trying to rescue. Plus I love the way Annette looks as a vampire and the way she summons shape-shifting bats to fight you.

I'm not a big fan of "boss fights."

Generally, in the types of games I play they're out of place...

However, I really enjoyed the assault on Project Purity with Liberty Prime in Fallout 3 and taking out Bane in Arkham Asylum (but the Poison Ivy and Joker bosses were just annoying).

Favorite boss fight? That must be Arthas from WoW! Oh how much nights we spent trying to kill him. His death is very tragic, both story wise and emotionally. You`ve been fighting him since Warcraft3, for years! He pretty much is the only villian that really matters. (Deathwing is BS)

I would have to say Zeus from God of War II. I spent three hours trying to learn how to beat him. Battles like that to a degree can be frustrating but they're so fun because they force you to stay on your toes when it comes to reading attack patterns and beating them is that much more rewarding. He has this one attack where he rapidly shoots two lighting bolts at you and if you don't deflect the projectiles at the right time they take a massive chunk out of your health so getting that timing down took quite a bit of time.
