The movement called Gamergate has officially gotten Nintendo to fire Alison Rapp over her perceived history of hating men and being silent on pedophiles.
She was also blamed by them for the perceived censorship of Nintendo's games in the West, such as Xenoblade Chronicles X and Fire Emblem Fates.

Nintendo has fired her in response due to the massive outrage Gamergate generated on social media and in the mainstream media.

I honestly doubt we will ever know the full story on this. I doubt a bunch of scum known as GamerGate were the sole reason Nintendo fired her.

In my view, the GamerGate crap needs to get less attention. Both sides have their fair share of idiots and scumbags.

On the GamerGate side is Milo, the guy that hated gamers but changed his tune once he saw how profitable it would be to side with them. It's sickening how people like this exist. Two sided fakes that profit off whoever they can.

On the anti-gamergate side: Brianna Wu. She plays the victim card way too often and got quite a lot of money from her parents to help fund her game company. She's the typical spoiled brat that wasnt told no by her parents much.

Those are two examples. There is plenty more I would bet.

Actually she claims that Gamergate took it to the point of threatening her, her family and her coworkers at Nintendo of America, to the point they had to get the police involved.
Gamergate has been flooding Nintendo of America with calls and messages for over a month on regarding her.

Gamergate also got a major anti-pedophilia organization who helped them go to the media over her.

I can believe gamergaters taking to social media,
but what mainstream media outlets are supporting gg?

Ugh. I wish those idiots would just go away. They never seem to accomplish anything other than screwing stuff up and making absolute jerks of themselves. Damn fools.

All of them arent as evil as you think. As I said above- there is plenty of jerks on both sides. I'm all for ethics in journalism (a big part of GamerGate) but not when it involves harassment and stalking. BOTH sides have harassed, doxxed and stalked people. It's sickening really.

Also want to point out the Nintendo statement was this:

Though Ms. Rapp’s termination follows her being the subject of criticism from certain groups via social media several weeks ago, the two are absolutely not related. Nintendo is a company committed to fostering inclusion and diversity in both our company and the broader video game industry and we firmly reject the harassment of individuals based on gender, race or personal beliefs. We wish Ms. Rapp well in her future endeavors.

I know what Nintendo says, but quite frankly, I dont believe it. Companies ALWAYS say pretty much exactly that when this happens, and the timing is always exactly the same. The termination always follows very shortly after the harassment, and the companies say basically that exact line every single time. It's almost a script at this point, and not a very well thought-out one either.

Corporate types tend to do things like this. Cant have anything lowering the company image, really. If something or someone does that? It's got to go. Even if the cause is out of their control.

If Nintendo really wants to show that they absolutely didnt do it for that reason? Explain the actual reasons. If they cant do that... it just makes it look worse. Of course, the legality/ethics behind that idea is really beyond my knowledge/caring, but the simple fact is, a lack of info just pushes this idea forward.

That all being said, I know full well there's jerks on both sides. Always is, always will be... regardless, I'd still like the whole movement to just go away. The industry is filled with enough arguing, screaming snotbags as it is, we dont need more.

Hell L&O SVU made an episode out of it a few months ago.

Apparently from her tweets tonight, she was in a modeling gig that has sexual connotations which conflicted with her job at NoA but it could have been due to Gamergate as well.

I'm guessing Nintendo had this dirt on her ready to use it if they wanted her gone.
Kinda like Nixon recording conversations keeping dirt on his colleagues.

I don't think she had anything to do with the 'boob slider' being taken out of the game so she should not have been a target.

All the gg people had to is complain to Nintendo to get the better more authentic translations etc.

It's not right when SJW's get people fired and getting Allison fired wasn't right either.

Ugh, what a nasty situation. I feel bad for her on this one. I mean, honestly, it's nobody else's business what she does outside of that job... particularly when she isnt even using the same name or something like that, where jerks have to dig like crazy to even make a connection.

I'm so glad I never actually got involved in the "major" side of the industry like I'd originally planned to. All the nasty crap and even in-office politics and such would have driven me crazy.

Considering she's a pedophile apologist, is vocally racist towards whites, hates straight men and anyone who doesn't agree with her train of thought 100%, I don't give a damn about her.

She was a PR person for their company, and a damn poor one. When you write a thesis defending child pornography, you deserve to be fired. I'm sorry if that sounds crass, but pedophiles (and apologists) are next to the level of murderers to me.

And for all you complaining about Gamergate doing "horrible" crap, are you blind to what the SJWs have done?

Seems like she wasn't being honest about whatever she was 'moonlighting' as, a PR marketing person shouldn't attract so much attention and it's understandable that Nintendo would want to distance themselves from somebody that makes them look like a fool on social media.

I wouldnt be so sure that she did all those things if I were you. Dont forget where you got that info from: The internet. There's a number one rule I always follow with things like this: If it comes from the Net, it's NOT to be trusted.

....particularly when an angry mob from the Net is focused on something. Suddenly, anything goes. You now cannot trust anything that's even AROUND that particular something, because that mob can easily corrupt it if they want.

There's a reason why Gamergate has such a terrible reputation, and that's because they keep making personal attacks on people. And I think you know as well as I do that many of them werent *actually* concerned about the things they proclaim, but often just wanted things like censorship to stop. People on the Net in groups like that (on EITHER side) tend to have reasoning like that. They absolutely and definitely *will* attack someone, spewing tons of nonsense all over the place, simply because that person did something that mildly annoyed them. That's the thing that people tend to forget about internet groups like that. They forget just how dangerous and dark they can truly be.

As someone up above said, we're likely to never know the entire truth. We can get bits and pieces of it, but even those are now likely to be corrupted because the darker side of these groups is swarming around it too much. It's too contaminated to be 100% certain of ANYTHING at this point. And I really do mean *anything*.

And honestly, if she had really done all that bad crap, and it was just so well known that anyone could find out about it... Nintendo would have dumped her long ago. That they didnt, well... doesnt that seem more than a little suspicious? Sure as bloody hell does to me.

And no, I'm not blind to what "SJWs" are done. However, my view on Gamergate is simple: It's ***MADE*** of SJWs. That's what it's comprised of; which explains alot of the way the group in an overall sense tends to act. That's not to say the other side cant be just as bad, because of course they can (and my default stance on people in general is "everyone is a jackass", so I'm not exactly trusting the other side by default here, or at all...), but nevertheless, the dolts at GamerGate need to just STOP. As always, they accomplish nothing other than creating obnoxious uproars and driving people crazy. And at some point, they're going to attack someone that *really* doesnt deserve it... and something's going to go wrong. Like, REALLY wrong. THAT is why they need to stop, before they bloody well hurt someone. That's the problem with groups like that. They're totally fine and oh-so "justified", until, very abruptly... they arent. And at that point... it's too late.

I dont want to see that happen.

GamerGate highlights the stupidity in people seeking offense for the sake of being outraged. SJWs go looking for outrage in everything and complain like little children unless they get their way. Unless you agree 100% with a SJW, you'll be branded a sexist, homophobic, racist and whatever else they can throw at you.

Not to mention this dips**t (Alison, not you) constantly was an ass to actual FANS of Nintendo products who didn't want localization changes being made (cutting out dialogue, censoring outfits and yes, I realize she was a PR person, not a localization person), insulting them and making insane comments about gaming.

Gamergate will stop when SJWs stop being idiots by not complaining over mundane things like cleavage in digital media, violence in media, if a game is diverse enough. They should realize if they don't like it, don't play the god damn games (Witcher 3 springs to mind). I'm all for diversity, but when it's forced, I'm not.

And for the record, I used to side with these batshit insane SJWs (like Wu, Anita, Zoe, etc) before I was attacked for not agreeing 100%, which opened my eyes to how vitriolic they are and mean.
