Well, I can't say I'm all that obsessed with it, and I've really only played it with my father about a handful of times over the past decade. There was one point where I tried playing over a website, but people seemed a bit slow to respond and I found it wasn't as interesting without getting to talk to them, so eventually I gave up.
As for the game itself, I do still find it interesting and very complex and strategic in the simplest of ways, if that makes any sense. Of course, not having really looked into it, I don't know anything at all about these openings or moves or whatever, so I guess I can't really say I know what I'm talking about. Still, it's one of the few board games that keeps me interested and entertained enough.
I have had ideas on how to expand it. Specifically, I've wanted to make a video game with all the same rules, only it might be more an RPG or an RTS or a mix of genres, might even have a storyline of some kind, but that would deviate it and it would be a bit over the top. That, and I'm too lazy to actually start the project.
