I remember playing it when it first came out as a kid, and fairly recently (i.e. within the last few weeks) bought an emulated download. I still can't figure out how to prevent my city from going into debt in the long run.

I bought this just the other day and thought it was fun. I prefer SimCity4, though.

Raise taxes gradually, lowering them sometimes if need be. Don't float any bonds. Maybe put it on Cheetah speed for a several turns and do nothing, just accumulate wealth.

This is one of the first computer games I played when I was a teenager. I didn't have a computer then, but a neighbor did and I liked it then...

Amazing how my life hasn't gone much of anywhere since then...I digress.

I haven't played it in years but it's a great game, I remember this old gem as well.

It's free to download here and there's a few classic simulation games on the site.

Ah Sim Tower, easy to get into, had a lot of fun with that one

Sim City 2000 was very cool when it came out. Still have the box and floppy discs for it somewhere. Had loads of feature over the original Sim City and the jump to isometric graphics looked awesome at the time.

Sim City 4 is still the top city builder game IMO. Although Cities XL 2012 wasn't too bad.

Have to see how Sim City 5 turns out. Hopefully won't be a DLC fest.

Oh yeah I remember Simtower. It's sequel is called Yoot Tower (Simtower 2). Currently one variation of it is being sold for the ipad. Also there have many clones in recent years copying Simtower. One dev team even attempted to say they created their version as first while another team pointed out that their game is based on Simtower when that dev team accused of the other copying their work. I actually find it funny.

Sim City 2000 was my favorite game when I was in second grade! I used to cheat though. And I would always destroy my cities with the UFO.

I would spend hours playing this when I was younger. I enjoyed building a model of the city of Erie, PA with Sim City 2k!

I played it years ago. I liked it, but it interacted with my obsessive tendencies really badly. I'd get absorbed into playing and wouldn't be able to stop. After the second time of playing from Friday night to Monday morning without a break (without sleep), I uninstalled it and threw the floppy away. It was like electric crack for me. :?

I used to enjoy doing the natural disasters on Sim City 2000. Hurricanes, tornadoes, earthquakes, fires etcs.
