I just started playing it yesterday, and I really am impressed. Some of the best graphics I have seen on my 360 are in this game. I am not looking forward to going for the "Madman" achievement, but everything else seems to be obtainable.

Has anybody else played it?

I'm waiting to get myself a comp that can play the 2nd one, and get the PC version.

If you think that game looks beautiful on the Xbox 360 then you should see the PC version. It's drop dead gorgeous. I was so impressed with the game that I immediately went back to playing it again after beating it the first time. Protip: In chapter 1 you get a choice between joining one persons team in favor of the others. It changes the entire middle section of the game. Plot elements are filled in you didn't quite know about in your first playthrough. One of the must have RPG's in recent memory.

Anyway, I heard the Xbox 360 version was really well done so you've definitely got a keeper on your hands. Enjoy!

I've got it on PC and 360 both(found a deal on the PC that had both the first and 2nd game in a bundle). I've played through it once already on 360 and am looking forward to another go. For an independent studio, CD Projekt has Impressed me greatly with the quality of their work.

I tried it on the PC. The intro was really amazing with the boat. Then i played the tutorial level, within seconds i was disappointed. The way you walk is too outdated, i had a easier time walking around playing Mario. Then i got to the part where you need to brew a potion for the injured knight, i was pretty confused how gathering stuff and seeing their location with your medal could make for good gameplay. Not to mention the level was really small and the graphics were definitely not the best.

So i got the ingredients and i had to "meditate" to make a potion, pretty weird i guess but ok. I proceeded to the Arena. In there i was confronted with combat and it felt weird. Too complicated for me to have fun, not enough freedom. Right there and then i exited and uninstalled. I guess some games just aren't meant for some people. Maybe the gameplay would ahve been better if i stuck around to level 1.

The games are heavily steeped in the original books written by Sapkowski but both have just enough back story to fill in the general theme of the plot and you never feel very lost. As a monster slayer with amnesia the set-up for learning more information is natural. Admittedly when the characters talk about politics and faraway locations you've never been able to visit, it might be a little overwhelming but I think as a whole it just adds to the flavor of the games. While the Witcher 2 takes place immediately after the original it's not necessary to play the first one to become immersed in the game world. Very few parts of the sequel mention the original and instead focus on developing the character of Geralt more.
