Does anyone think Halo 1 is more intense than it's sequels?

I don't know, the game makes me feel uneasy. Whenever I play a mission like Two Betrayals or The Maw, I get nervous and I have no idea why. I never felt that with games like Halo 2 or Halo Reach, only with the first game. Does anyone feel the same way?

In my experience its because I played them rather young and was getting scared by every Flood level in Halo 1 and 2 too the point where even now I wont play them by myself because I still get freaked out. Kinda makes me sad at myself now I'v writen it down now :P

I'm not so sure about intense. I do know that the first two Halo games are pretty much my favorite, despite being particularly more challenging than the rest of them have been(though the level 'Cortana' in Halo 3 is almost as bad as 'The Library' from Halo 1, or the level in High Charity with Flood in Halo 2...hell I just hate the Flood in general). he most unnerving for me, though, is Halo 3: ODST. It's not so bad playing co-op, but playing alone I hate having to go through the main hub area between levels, even though I know the game is super easy and I don't have much to worry about.

I remember playing the Halo 1 campaign for the first time and the presence of The Flood made all the levels darker in my opinion. Not only were all your fellow marines getting infected and virtually everybody is now out to kill you, you had a sense of isolation throughout the rest of the game. Compared to all other Halo games, that experience is still unique to this day.

I guess the first gam can hit my nerves, The Library always gets me so frustrated at how long you have to hold out for, the last two levels set you against 3 diferent groups that you seem to be in the middle of, that generally require a number of differen strategies. The Flood creep me out, true to their name hat just keep going and going, and some can have some rather dangeros weapons that are not obvious at first look. I guess two betrayals also feels very chaotic, while earlier you could break ito sleeping groups they are all out for blood.

I would say that the level Cortana in the third alo leaves me stressed, the levels are hard to see in, and they include the pure forms that makes long range a danger, or much risk in getting closer.

I think a similar feel also put into their teams in Halo Wars, luckilly no flying Flood have appared in other games.

I did get goosebumps when you were trying to rescue Captain Keyes the 2nd time.
Seeing him in that weird hunk of festered flesh made me cringe a bit when I was a kid.
