How passionate are you when you play games/VGs?

This question is very straight-forward.

Former New York Jets/Kansas City Chiefs head coach once said "YOU PLAY TO WIN THE GAME!" That one quote there, sums up how I play, especially when I play Mario Party- I only want to WIN.

Of course, when I play that said game, I sometimes yell curse words if something doesn't go my way....... I can be really animated at times.

With video games, especially single-player, not so much, I have been trending away from playing single player games over the past few years. They just don't hold me like they used to.

Multiplayer I get very competitive. Particularly with anything split-screen where my opponents are in the same room. This really applies to board games as well, I get in to those unless I am doing so poorly I know I have zero chance of winning, then I just start getting annoyed and disinterested. Video games however the matches are generally short enough where that doesn't become an issue.

Of course, being the sports fan I am, I tend to make a LOT of sports references when I play VGs.

I guess being raised the way I was brought this John McEnroe-like competitiveness in me.

Enough that when I get cut off by traffic in Forza, I immediately start mentally roaring epithets (or actually roaring them if I'm alone).

Hopefully not of the racial kind....

I get frustrated when I do badly. don't play table top rpgs to win as there really isn't a way.

In single RP games I tend to create a personality and stick with it~
For example I'm currently playing Thief 2 and I'm playing as a Thief, not some bloodthirsty vulture.
So I always try to avoid killing guards!

And in competitive scene I always try to aim to be on the top 3~
I'll be butt mad if I'm 4th or lower.

Nah, more standard fare combined with a bunch of really old curses I found and think are hilarious.

That's cool with me. I'd love to hear some of 'em.

Widershins basically means to take the left side of a fork on the road, and was at one point connected with The Fae, so it's basically telling you to meet the faeries. If you know anything about the original faerie myths, you'll see why that's a curse...)

And a thousand others I can't remember when I'm not raging/make up on the spot that just sound old

I only get really passionate about games I really love, such as SEGA's stuff and a few of Nintendo's offerings...

Competitiveness I really don't care for...unless there is only one person winning 100% of the time (I see it as unfair to the rest of us).

I can't play games anymore these days without having my own self-created custom content in it. (weapons, vehicles, maps, sounds...)

Depends on your idea of passionate - lately ive been playing ALOT of Battlefield 3 and there is alot of custom servers running for it with ridiculous rules.

From a gamers perspective, especially one that buys his own games, i dont see why if you are merely RENTING one of the game companies servers, where it clearly states you cannot restrict anyones gaming experience, that you should be allowed to state "shotguns are not allowed here".

I paid for my game, i will use what i like and its going to take more than some trumped up 12 year old on a powertrip to stop me using it - so aggressive passionate right there.

In terms of non abusive, i LOVE the idea of building up all those guns, getting those dog tags for reaching 500 kills with each one, learning which attachements work the best, setting up classes and weapons for different scenarios and then getting stuck in to a good 3 hours of popping ppl.

Dissapointingly, with this game and also Diablo 3 (which i LOVE) - sometimes the scenarios that youve made a class for, never occur. But you dont delete them - oh no - one day, that class will pay off

Pretty passionate. I'm not even kidding. I get so into the game, I start speaking the dialogue.
