Well, I did enjoy Spiderman 2 on the ps2. It would have to be my second favorite movie licensed game. Well, third if you want to get technical. My favorites are the Lord of the Rings Gameboy Advance games, which I think were head and shoulders above their console counterparts. At the time I was really into Diablo II, so I didn't mind that they were Diablo knock-offs, and truth be told, I still find them amazing for GBA movie based titles. Heck, I'd say they're amazing for movie based titles in general. As for Spiderman 2, I guess I really liked it for its sandbox style gameplay, and the fact that it took liberties with the source material. I don't think anyone plays movie based games for the story, because they can just watch the movie for that. But, I actually liked the story in Spiderman 2, the game, because it deviated from the movie plot, and actually added in a lot of stuff like additional villains, and Black Cat, who I was quite fond of.
Of course I have fond memories of Goldeneye. Though I was a Playstation kid(and still am), my friend across the street was a Nintendo kid, so we played each other's systems all the time, especially multiplayer. I actually enjoyed the game more than the movie. In more recent memory, I really enjoyed the Scott Pilgrim beat em' up. I never saw the movie, but it didn't look that good, and I read a bit of the manga. Not my cup of tea, to say the least, and since then I haven't been a fan of OEL manga. I love the game's retro style though, as well as its throwbacks to older games.
I remember enjoying the Crouching Tiger: Hidden Dragon game on the ps2. Never did see that movie. I kind of got it in a bundle with GT3, and actually ended up enjoying it more than the game I bought that pack for. I guess part of the reason I never saw the movie was that I didn't want to find out what the cannon ending was, until I got a better one. I did mean to replay the game, but never did. I guess I'll put that on my to do list, since I still have the game.
I do also recall liking the Fantastic Four movie tie-in for the ps2, though not nearly as much as the Spiderman 2 game. I wish more people were willing to play Fantastic Four co-op with me, because I enjoyed co-op attacks, which were difficult to pull off in the parts of the single player game that had more than one character. It also provides a lot of opportunity to practice what I considered fundamental gaming skills at the time. It was thanks to that game that button tapping, and even analog stick rotation were a breeze for me. Heck, I even learned control, which can be difficult for someone who's trained in the art of fast button tapping. Of course I'm out of practice thanks to the 7th gen, and also to my genre preferences now. I would've loved if the Fantastic Four tie-in allowed for more sandbox style exploration, but all in all, I liked it a lot.
A guilty pleasure of mine was Enter the Matrix. Actually, I encountered that game before I saw the movies, so I didn't mind that it didn't feature the main cast from the films. If anything I'm glad it told its own story, and it does explain those characters that show up briefly in the last film. Plus, I was amused by the scene where Niobe kisses Persephone. It is one of the glitchiest games ever, before Bethesda turned that into a trend, and it hasn't aged all that well, so I guess I liked it a lot back then, but not so much now.
