No, those games are not doing the same thing. How many of those titles are put out on an annual basis? Guitar Hero was, but that eventually crashed and burned because of that, the way COD needs to. How many of those franchises, between 2003-2012 have had 9 main entries in their franchise come out? None. Keep in mind Call of Duty would be even higher if you included the handheld spin-offs, or the PS2/GC/Xbox era console games. And even if you include those for the other franchises, they aren't released every single year either.
But if you seem to think all video games are basically the same thing, why do you even keep playing them?
