I'm in the same situation, but it doesn't get to me as i know why. I know for a fact that i don't get many hits because it's just gameplay. I think people like to have both gameplay and commentary mixed in. As an Aspie that's not something i can do, i have a monotone voice and some people find that irritating or it comes across as being cold. I'm also just not comfortable with the idea. I've had a few hits by spamming the video with my computer specs and other things, people like to know if they can run the game. I often post on the relevent gaming forums, that gets me about 100 views if i'm lucky. Make sure you embed the image in the website, people usually watch it then.

I'm apparently doing well on YouTube. 130+ Subs and 280,000+ views total.

Let me break down my history and you can learn a few things that can help boost up your popularity. I began in 2009 as MrIAMNOTANOOB because the good names were taken and my brother had some eccentric creativity. The very first videos I made were from Spore Creature Creator (they're long gone now). I began making TF2 videos and Garry's Mod videos using Xfire's record in-game feature. I felt empty so I started doing Let's Plays (with cheating involved and keep criticism too yourself). I wanted to do commentary but I'm not a talker and that's when annotations became very useful. I started Half Life: Blue Shift and Half Life 1. There was always some occasional filler but I'm not proud of any of it since my brother made most of it. I also did some Left 4 Dead videos and then a Portal Let's Play. Sometimes I would multitask Let's Plays out of sheer boredom. My brother who tag teams with me on videos began doing a Leroy Jenkins Speedrun of Left 4 Dead before it ran out of gas and then it evolved into a dreaded Benny Hill theme speedrun. Then I got to my favorite part, a Let's Play of Half Life 2. Then I discovered emulators and roms and tried to find recording software like CamStudio, Fraps, and Bandicam. I recorded WWF Royal Rumble for the Genesis and later the SNES. I did a Let's Play of Iridion 3D and then its sequel Iridion II for GBA. Then I moved to the N64 and recorded WWF Attitude matches, made my own custom wrestlers, and allowed other people to submit ideas for CAWs and Matches. I also did some Destruction Derby 64 videos since I used to have that game as well. I did some Terraria for a while but then it went nowhere. Then I got to making a South Park 64 Let's Play since it was another game I used to have. I began getting cool stuff on TF2 so I recorded both successes and disappointments of the items I got through crafting and unboxing on camera. My brother did some co-ops with a friend of his on Steam on games like Killing Floor and Mann vs Machine (TF2). At the time I started doing a Half Life: Opposing force Let's Play, my graphics card began to suffer and I could no longer play any Half Life 2 engine games. I did manage to replace it but the possibility of a Half Life 2 Episode One Let's Play still remains at zero. Opposing Force is on hiatus since I lost motivation then. I also started ripping soundtracks from some of my games. First Destruction Derby 64 since no one else had uploaded the full soundtrack yet and then the Iridion games because I felt like it. I developed a fascination in Wrestling games for the N64 so I started on WCW/NWO Revenge and then ECW Hardcore Revolution just to show off the Rosters for now. I currently hope to start recording Wrestlemania 2000 and No Mercy soon enough. I've made 563 videos as of Feb 7, 2013 not counting the ones that got deleted for copyright reasons and due to extreme hate from the audience and my own displeasure. Got that so far?
