i been playing this mod for 2 days and i have to say i really love it Everything in Brutal Doom is extremely intense. Everything sounds louder, looks bigger, moves faster, and hits harder. The camera shakes every time something explodes near you. Enemies are harder and smarter, and weapons and explosions are loud as f**k.Your weapons have been upgraded to a deadly arsenal, completely throwing the vanilla Doom's "progressive weapon system" through the window. Every weapon is powerful and have it's pros and cons, and a weapon will never be outclassed when you find a new weapon.You have new abilities too. With any weapon selected, you can press Q (default bind) to kick enemies at close range and send them away. Press F (default bind) to taunt enemy players, and Z or X (default binds) to wave to other players in cooperative modes.
Brütal Doom will make the good an old Doom have a new and fresh look. It will give you a reason to play all the Ultimate Doom, Doom 2, and Final Doom levels again. This mod also works with almost every megawad and map pack around. Take a breath, and prepare to RIP AND TEAR HUGE GUTS!! !! !

ok to play it you need:

1. download Zandronum or ZDoom {this mod does not work with skull tag}

2. install Zandronum or ZDoom {use google to search for it}

3. get the Ultimate Doom, Doom 2, and Final Doom wad file's you need to buy the game's from steam or if you have Doom collector's edition there in the folder were you installed the game or just type doom.wad in windows start menu search programs and files if you using windows XP/vista/7 {i have NO experience with windows 8}

4. take or Copy the wad files to the Zandronum or ZDoom folder in the place you install it right click on the wad files and open with Zandronum or ZDoom

5. to play the mod download it extract in a folder or in the Zandronum or ZDoom folder right click on brutalv018a and open with Zandronum or ZDoom

I've heard about Brutal Doom but surprisingly have never tried it myself.

So I am presuming that this mod sits on top of other Doom levels instead of containing its own maps? If so -- I agree, these kinds of mods/conversions are great excuses to go back and re-play the classic megawads. Scoredoom did something similar, where I went back and played through a good Chinese of Eternal Doom again.

Someday if I get through my backlog of more modern games, I'd like to go back and replay all the classic megawads again...

I like the fact they've completely remade the midi-soundtrack in metal style.

Thought this would be about the music genre.

I'll pass. I like the old school wads and gameplay of DooM much more. I find that the gore is waayyy overdone and some of the guns remind me of the new generation FPS's which I don't like.
