Is this a good idea for a Pathfinder Character?

While I have never played the game, I sorta have the idea for the character I want to play. Basically, a kobold merchant who does explore , but instead is basically like C.M.O.T Dibbler or your average conman, with schemes like "Giving an enemy something expensive enough to cause the enemy to spare his life, and then tell adventurers the enemy stole it from him to cause the enemy death." Common stuff like that.

Is this idea stupid or funny? Also, would it be possible to play like this?

I have not played pathfinder, but I have played D&D 3rd edition and there was a guy in the group who loved to play characters that made the game more fun. It was more fun, but it also made it harder to achieve our goals.

Also if your DM is using canned adventures, a "fun" character may be outclassed as the author probably assumed everyone is min/maxed in their class.

I tried to run through Neverwinter Nights 2 as a NG rogue without killing anything that wasn't a threat. Got just past a certain point and there's an opponent who can't be beat unless you're a certain level... and the computer wasn't giving XP for overcoming enemies without killin (ie sneak past, run out of range, etc), so nope. died. NWN is basically a 3.5ed canned adventure with really strict adherance to the rules and no DM imagination.

So yeah, I gues the upshot is it can be fun, but it completely depends on your DM being flexible and enjoyment oriented, not goal oriented.

I think that's actually a pretty interesting take on it. Granted, your group might take issue with a combat-worthless character tagging along, but hey, they might like the idea of something weird. Bring lots of sausages. On a stick.

Come to think of it... has anyone made a Discworld module?

I have a Discworld book for GURPS but, I don't know if anyone made a d20 System version.
