i used to play it a lot, but it does get repetitive eventually. mosty i played the prophesies of pendor and brytenwalda total conversions.

I hope this style of game will be used in future developments.

Definitely love the combat system. Especially on horseback

With modern machines you can use tools to increase the limit of men on the battlefield beyond 500 people in total (250+ each side) which can make for some intense battles.

Mount and Blade 2 is officially in the works now. But in the mean time if you haven't tried them out there is an independent studio which has been licensed to make spin off games based on the engine. The first of these games was "With Fire and Sword" which is based in the historical 17th century Eastern Europe/Russia. It changes the dynamics of the game as you now have gunpowder weapons around and differing political atmosphere that means you can't create your own faction anymore.

They are going to be releasing a second game focused on the Caribbean soon which will be interesting.

I've played it a few times. Click here to see a matchup between the entire continent of Caldaria(where Mount&Blade takes place in) and Tamriel(The Elder Scrolls).

Repetitive? I found the game pretty dynamic. You always had to change strategies as you increased in rank. You couldn't use the same strategy as you did as a lord, when you become a king for example. I think you're playing the game on a wrong way.

For the combat, you actually can use the same tactics throughout the whole game and have little trouble, if you know what those tactics are. Part of this comes from the simple fact that the game could only handle so many characters in battle at once.... you might go up against an army of 500, but it'd never load more than 100 or so of them at once.

Either way though, the game's AI is fairly simple during combat. Know what you're doing well enough and you need not really give orders to your guys during combat.

Theoretically the 2nd game should fix these issues.... hopefully it wont take a billionty years to come out.
