Favorite F2P online games
Hi all - just wondering what people's favorite online games are that are F2P? I would say 'MMO' games but I'm not sure that the term necessarily applies to some of these that I'd cite as examples of what I'm talking about
Team Fortress 2
War Thunder
Hawken
Star Conflict
Just trying to find some other games to get into that won't cost anything, at least to try out.
well, i enjoyed the F2P MMO "Tera Online" as the combat system was everything guild wars 2 should have been but the rest of the game was classic MMO style with the grinding quests.
The F2P 3rd Person Shooter "APB: Reloaded" is Really good for its customization capabilities but the community sucks and i've spent too much time on it (over 600 hours >..> )
Lastly, the F2P 3rd Person Shooter + Parkour game "Warframe". Basically Space Ninjas in Space xD seriously, a must play game. It's mostly a grind though :/

World of Warcraft (starter edition) - you can play up to level 20, although there are restrictions like not being able to use the mail system, auction house, or train up professions very far. You can chat with other trials using an addon, and get assistance from paying players to make groups. It's not true F2P because it's not being monetised to support that play-style, instead it's just an unlimited-time free trial. The instant you start subscribing you can never go back to f2p with your characters. The only real long term way to play it is in PvP, which will be extremely challenging as trials have several disadvantages against paying players, but then some like a good challenge.
Guildwars 2 - pay once then F2P, the game gets very regular updates, microtransactions are for cosmetics, or convenience items like more bag and bank slots. You'll also need to buy slots for characters if you want to roll all of them. Everything that can be bought with real money can also be bought using in game currency, but it'll take a lot of grinding to get enough.
Rift - haven't played since before the game went fully F2P (it used to be like WoW with an unlimited free play time on characters under 20, except you could still play them after letting your subscription lapse). I was very impressed with the game though, and it got me to stop playing WoW for a good few months before I moved on to something else (not back to WoW).
Firefall - Open World, skill based MMOFPS, still in (its very long) beta, kind of up in the air about where it's development may be going, but very polished in a number of areas, while those that are lacking are gradually being addressed.
EVE Online - it's a subscription game, but if you get serious enough and put the time in, it can eventually be played as F2P. It's a game that suits older players, as it's far more strategy than reflexes.
I'll also recommend Warframe, it's an excellent game so long as you don't end up getting sucked into its grind.

definitely the biggest issue ^.^" I play it as Nyx who i've maxed to rank 30 and polarized 3 times with the Sobek that i've maxed completely polarizing it 4 times, the aklex are in the works but almost finished, the Dakra Prime that is pretty much maxed without a need to polarize and the Soma that i maxed out completely if i ever need an accurate weapon instead of a SMG (i say the sobek is an smg and not a shotgun, if you ever see mine, it unloads the clip way too fast and does stupid amounts of damage >..>)
i'm also mastery rank 7 (fairly mediocre but hey, never even intended to rank up past 6

I got an excalibur to 30 along with Dual Zoren, Latron, Burston and Bronco. Hardly anyone used Bronco, but with high level multi-shot, magazine size and reload mods it could 2 shot almost anything, and a full magazine at point blank into the face took a lot off the bigger enemies. I was a speed runner with Marathon, Quick Rest and Rush mods to go with the frame's Slash Dash ability.
I got Banshee and Loki frames but didn't really work on levelling them, instead going for weapons, Scindo, Gorgon and Dual-Vipers.
I noticed there's now Dual Broncos, so if I ever start playing again I'll be going for those. Just one of them was devastating point blank.

there is also a bronco prime

honestly though, i suggest you try out the warframe "Ash". he's kind of off tanky with expertise in close range combat. equip the abilities "Teleport" and "Blade Storm" maybe hot switching "Teleport" for "Smoke Screen" depending on your prefered play style. maybe chuck on a maxed "Blind rage" with a maxed "Focus", a maxed "Streamline" and a maxed "Fleeting Expertise" to give a bonus power of 129% Power increase and a power efficiency of 35%. (the blind rage + Fleeting expertise is best used with the teleport + Blade storm ability set as the combo will reduce the duration of smoke screen while having no effect on the other two).
the aura equipped should (if possible) be "Steel Charge" as that will increase your main damage output (melee) while giving your warframe a boost in power of 14 power points (the little number that tells you if you can or cannot equip a mod >...>)
this leaves you with 4 mod slots to place a maxed "Rush", "Quick Rest", "Fortitude", and "Vigor" mod each. This should max your damage output on Ash while keeping you alive at the same time.
you'll be best of using a long ranged weapon as your primary weapon. maybe one of the bows, a sniper or any of the rifles you've been using just not a shotgun or a launcher.
for your secondary, any version of the bronco should be fine however, you may want to look into getting the "Brakk" as it is a high damage shotgun type sidearm like the bronco.
for melee, i'd have to say "Fangs", "Fang Prime", "Dakra Prime" (my personal favorite melee weapon), or the "Orthos Prime" (currently the highest DPS melee weapon if you want to spam normal attacks rather than charged attacks. (The Dakra Prime is a close second but is a long sword instead. also the only long sword that attacks multiple enemies at a time))
^^ trial and error for modding those weapons. look up build guides. also, remember, to use that build i suggested for the "Ash" warframe, you're going to need to polarize him about 3 - 4 times meaning you'll rank them up to level 30 about 3 - 4 times before he's OP and needing a nerf. also, remember this, if you have a nova on your team, when they use molecular prime (their ult) you ult instantly, it should be able to deal an AOE of up to (but not limited to) 11K (11,000) damage instantly to every enemy in the room... that is enough to insta kill level 50's after the Damage 2.0 update (that's about level 90 of the old days O.O)
also, take note, this is all theoretical. I do not play Ash, I play Nyx and Nova (first one for missions i need to survive long times for, the second for kill 'em all missions) and i've pretty much near maxed them both (as in seriously 100% maxed. not just leveled them to 30, i've leveled them to 30 and polarized them multiple times so i've technically leveled them past level 90...) as well as maxing the Sobek (a shotgun that acts like a sub machine gun now), the Soma (low base damage, Crit damage of x8.8 and crit chance of 80%), the Balistica (a crossbow sidearm that shouldn't be used except in missions that you want a silent insta kill), the Aklex (teched up Dual Magnum Pistols (not revolvers)), the Mire (a poisoness sword that likes to poison, poison), the Dakra Prime (classy as f**k sword)... yeah... i play this game too much... need to go back to league...
oh, on a side note, if anyone needs help with builds and stuff, just ask me ^.^ I should be able to give a decent build to maximize damage at the very least... or slap you in the face if you choose to use a silly weapon/warframe (sorry to say this, i've used the dual zorens. they're not worth the effort people... i've maxed them, they deal primarily high crit damage with an even greater crit chance but there just isn't enough base damag to make it work no matter what.)

:L wouldn't say "Great" as much as "Better than past attempts". :L still getting the few douches who pick on the newbies :L (I'm actually starting up a clan with one of my friends specifically targeted at helping new players get adjusted to playing the game and how to play so the "Veteran" players don't yell at you)

Don't bother with the starter edition of WoW. It doesn't even take you a day to grind to level 20, and there is very little you can do at that level. There's a reason Blizzard is giving out a free level 90 to everyone when the next expansion hits: they realize that the endgame is where all of the content is.
I would recommend it if you want to just try it out for a day or so, but you can't actually "play" it.
As for other F2P games, League of Legends is good if you are extremely patient with other people. It's fun, but tempers tend to flare in a game where one bad player can sink your entire team.
