The fact that one of the main characters has PDD aside, I loved this game's story and atmosphere and, for the first time really ever, I felt like crying after I was done. Anyone else played this game here?

I've never enjoyed a video game more. To the Moon is the proof that video games can tell just as good a story - if not better - than any other form of storytelling.

I have! My very first post on this forum was actually about that game. I have only played a handful of games (most of them adventure games) that managed to tell a story in such a touching way. But with this one, it had an extremely personal element for me for obvious reasons. Freebirdgames also has a game called Quintessence that is really good too, but it is incomplete and kind of stops in the middle (I'm not sure if the creator is planning to finish it eventually or if he has gotten too busy with other things).

And in response to the poster above...I agree and it actually makes me sad that more games don't focus more on the story. So many games that are released these days are just about shooting and blowing up as many things as possible, and the plot is just kind of thrown in there as an afterthought. Nearly all of the games I've played that actually had decent stories were indie games. One of them is "Sunset Over Imdahl": http://freebirdgames.com/forum/index.php?topic=1270.0. It's a pretty short game but it packs a serious punch!

I have to agree. Maybe it's because you're controlling the characters or because you feel a bond with them but video games put me in the story so much better than a movie for some reason.

And I'll have to try those two games Stargazer43. I too have a personal reason for liking the game (it was the final push that made me go get diagnosed. I had no idea about the story till after I was done). I even got a hold of the creator, Kan Gao, though very briefly.

But the story truly is what makes this game wonderful for me. It has that "Forrest Gump" feel to it, even though it's going backwards chronologically. And of course, if it doesn't have you in tears by the end of the game something's wrong.
