Puzzle & Dragons: Super Mario Edition is launching in Japan on April 29th on 3DS... SERIOUSLY!!

It replaces the map, enemies and items with everything Mario.

This is one of Japan's most popular games.

Hopefully this is the version is the one that will come to the West.

That game seems super popular everywhere.

I've been playing the iOS one for.... awhile (the iPad being my main device for portable gaming, as it gives me the games that the handhelds simply do not). Not the Japanese version of course. It's very good. And weird.

So many collaborations... only in that game could you make a team comprised of Hello Kitty, Batman, a bird from Angry Birds, one of the Space Invaders, and Shinji from Evangelion. Not that this would be a very EFFECTIVE team, mind you. And sooooooo many different monsters/creatures/characters in the game. Well over 1000 different ones at this point, if I recall correctly.

It can be complicated as all hell though. I'm not even going to try to explain some of the processes for efficient XP gain and stuff like that.

It sounds like the Mario version is not based on the main game (which does not have/need things like maps and whatnot, yet has it's own things that do not appear in Z) but is instead based on Puzzle & Dragons Z, a spin-off of the central game.

This Mario one isnt something that I personally would want... as the main game already has about 10 bazillion things to do and holds my attention well... but the 3DS seems a good non-tablet platform for that sort.
