MUGEN menu help?

Okay, I just got Sonic 2 style Sonic on Mugen, but for some reason on the fighter select screen, the enter [or "return" as the game calls it] key does nothing. So, I'm probably gonna sound ridiculous but what are the controls for the MUGEN menu? Like, the entire menu? Is there a back button? I need help here.

*nervous bump* I really could use some help here.

Hoo boy, it's been YEARS since I've played around with MUGEN. If I remember correctly, the menu controls are determined by whatever you have set as your punch/kick keys. Just try pressing keys on your keyboard until you find something that works.

Well, the ESC button is the back button, no matter what configuration you have.

The start button can be held to select a palette.
