Don't need a hobby shop, just do like we do; buy the game online, play it with friends in the comfort of your own home.
Ah, but you have to know people that give a crap about it. Everyone I know is all stereotypical FPS & JRPG focused gamers that dont really do much else. Heaven forbid they play a board game, which doesnt have guns OR anime girls, with simplistic mechanics and regenerating.... everything.
As a rule I dont do much gaming with them; only interests I share with them is fighting games, so that's about my only activity with them. Otherwise I keep to myself. Now, there USED to be a hobby shop, way back when, and I went there fairly often back in the day; not long after I'd graduated, that was. But it eventually fell just like all such shops here. We hardly even have book stores around here... there's *one* that I know of, within a 50-mile radius, and it's used books only... let alone something like that. It's.... unfortunate.
