Any other Minecraft Fans out there?

First of all, let me say I have Aspergers Syndrome; I was diagnosed in 2006 when I was 6 years old. People often think I'm older for my age, and that I speak more maturely than others. I love Minecraft! Me and 3 of my friends started a gaming group called ACJJGaming, the "ACJJ" part of the name represents each of our first initials. I just can't stop playing Minecraft!! ! The only problem is, I'm more into vanilla survival, minigames, and server hosting + administration, more than building or using WorldEdit. Unfortunately, I can't give out the server IP yet, because the server's not completely ready in terms of game lobbies/arenas, and plugin configurations. I've gotten the server maybe, 47.9% done, not sure. I already have staff members, so I'm not looking for any anew yet. But anyways, does anyone else prefer these aspects of Minecraft more that the building, please let me know. Or even if you have a comment about Minecraft or related aspects, go ahead. I feel like I'm weird in my concept of Minecraft gameplay. Also, if anyone wants to help me out with bug testing, just send me a PM (for those of you who don't know what that means, it's an abbreviation for "Private Message").

P.S. Sorry about being so formal, I'm kind of a grammar freak.

I'm into it, it's pretty much my favorite game at this point. Been playing since it started, about 5 years ago. I remember a time, back in the Stone Age, when chickens didnt exist, and zombies dropped feathers! Ah, those were the days... sort of...

I do the PC version only, and I personally dont really do multiplayer much, and I'm not fond of creative mode, really, only switching into that via console commands if something bugs out and needs to be fixed. I like the survival aspects of the game, and get much more satisfaction out of making a house or whatever absurd structure I end up making if I gathered the resources myself. I play on hard only, though it's still too easy for me, so I tend to run two seperate worlds, one of which is vanilla, the other one is usually one of the "heavy" modpacks (like one of the Feed the Beast ones), typically with elements added in to increase the difficulty. I play the game with a PS4 controller, actually, despite it not at all supporting such a thing. I do it anyway! Kinda have to, actually.

Have played the game absolutely to death since I first got it way back when. Let it be noted that skeletons annoy me. I'm relatively certain this is why they exist.


Anyway, if you're looking for people to join you on your server, you might consider going to a forum specifically for the game, such as minecraftforum.net or whatever. I havent seen many Minecraft players on THIS forum. Doesnt help that the gaming section of this forum is very slow to begin with... not exactly the focus of the site, after all!

I remember I started around 1.2.5, before Mojang messed up everything with the useless items implemented. I loved it when Minecraft was so simple, but I guess I wouldn't think that unless I experienced the new versions like I do now. I'm not really a big fan of the console versions either, they're way too hard to do when you play the PC version for the majority of the time. I agree on disliking creative, it takes away from the traditional Minecraft gameplay. I've tried hard mode, but failed miserably, I've tried normal mode, but I consider my progress on that half of what I can get done on easy, if that even makes any sense. I guess I'm just what you call a "noob" even though I've been playing maybe for estimated 3 years.

Occasionally I'll get in and out of the mood of playing Minecraft. For example, one month I'll be playing Minecraft, then I might get into something else like gain an obsession on an anime or something. Oh yeah, I forgot to mention, I'm a moderate anime watcher, not one who obsesses over it, but someone who just watches it normally, lol. Not to get off-topic, I was about to go on and on about animes and so on, but this is a game thread, not an anime thread, haha.

Yeah, I know about all the Minecraft Server websites, I just don't want to make it public yet until all areas are "grief-proof" and all the games and other worlds are working for players. I've also tried doing modpacks, but to me, they're a little bit too much and confusing. The worst mob in my opinion is the creeper, every time I even attempt to build something, I derp up so much that the creeper blows it up and really sets me off. Yeah, I wish there were more Minecraft players in this community. It is true that it's not the complete purpose of the forum, so I guess I would expect that. The main reason I posted it here is to find people who have similar interests to me.

Not sure what you mean by "useless items"... I've found a good use for every single object in the game (not counting things that are purely for decoration. With ONE exception, which is the stupid Beacon. I dont know what they were thinking on that one... you have to kill about a billionty wither skeletons in the Nether to get the stupid skulls that they almost never drop, need three of those, summon the most messed up and broken mob in the game, the Wither (you either have enchanted diamond armor here, or you *are* dead), beat that nightmare, and get the Nether Star. And then, OH JOY, you get to spend a completely insane 1200+ iron ingots if you want the beacon's "full" effect, which is a half-assed buff that has a range of like, what, 70 blocks? Hours and hours and HOURS of effort and a million iron for an item that is less effective than a simple potion. Ugh. I'll stick to the potions, thanks.

And I have to say I rather do the same thing with the game, where there'll be certain weeks where I"m too absorbed in something else... right now it's Binding of Isaac: Rebirth for the most part. Just depends on my mood. Though I'm probably going to fire it up later today and finish what I was doing last time, which is to take out the last of the 3 Elder Guardians in the water monument. That place, that place is dangerous.

And I'll also agree on the mod bits: they really CAN be confusing, cant they? It sorta depends on which ones... alot of the mod packs are obsessively designed around the "tech" mods, which are the most confusing type. I tend to prefer the ones that focus on adventure/combat/magic and stuff like that. But they're still complicated of course.

As for the console versions... ugh. I tried one for the first time very recently after finding out a friend of mine got the console version as well, so us and a couple of others could do some online stuff with that, and... UGH. The CONTROLS. They're HORRIBLE. And here I'd thought the controls I came up with were screwy. I was wrong. And then there's the world size limit which is even worse... so yeah, dont like that much, feh.

Either way though, welcome to the forums! You can probably find at least a few people that share some of your interests here, whatever they may be.

I played this game so much back when it was in beta, I must've logged hundreds of hours. By the time the game officially launched though I was done with it. I recently started playing again with my Oculus Rift DK2, and was amazed. I explored for half a day and upon a riverbed stumbled upon a group of horses, something I'd not realised was a new feature prior to then. I was put in a state of child like wonder. I felt like reaching out and touching it but obviously the horse wasn't there. I'm glad Minecraft is still able to surprise me like this years later.

I can much enjoy Minecraft, but unfortunately I get simulator sickness after playing it for just a couple of minutes. :) Best wishes on your project!

I enjoy Minecraft a lot in it's basic form, but when you throw mods into the mix, the possibilities are limitless!
(I spend almost all my time in creative mode, building large, complex structures and advanced redstone contraptions.)

I love Minecraft, but it's too easy.
The only way for me to enjoy it is on Hardcore mode.
I cannot stand creative mode or building a house at all.
I like to be nomadic in this game, and never use wooden chests or beds.
I will use ender chests to store brewing items, but using potions makes me feel overpowered.
I wonder if I should try to beat this game without armor and use a wooden sword and bow without enchantments.
I should try some mods, haven't done that yet.

Yes, I'd suggest trying some mods, definitely.

If you want a nice simple start that still keeps the game being MOSTLY the vanilla version, look up a mod called "Infernal Mobs". This one definitely adds to the challenge quite a bit. A simple zombie can become an invisible (except for particles...), teleporting, lightning-summoning horror with a ton of health. The mod basically does a Diablo sort of thing, in that some mobs will be "elite" and get random modifiers attached to them, as well as a massive health boost. There's also Ultra-level mobs, which are more rare, and Infernal, which are the most rare and extremely dangerous. But even the elites can be nasty. Imagine a creeper that summons a spider web around your feet, keeping you from getting away, while hitting you with fireballs as it gets closer, and has way more than enough health to not be stopped by mere arrows on it's way towards exploding you.

That mod also has the advantage of being usable with version 1.8 of the game. That's the one bad thing about the mods: You HAVE to be using the specific version of the game that they're compatible with. And for reasons that have never, ever been apparent to me, *all* modmakers, without even one exception, are VERY VERY VERY SLOW to update whatever mysterious thing in the mod it is that simply makes the compatibility alteration. We're up to the point where 1.9 snapshots are about to begin (probably within the next week), yet.... nearly all mods are still at 1.7.

Though, when you've got a whole bunch of mods.... that might not be such an issue. Probably by far the easiest way to deal with mods is to go get the Feed The Beast downloader/patcher/manager/launcher/whatever. This can be found here: http://www.feed-the-beast.com/ and currently is the most well-known of this type of thing. It's been going for awhile and is HUGE. There's alot of modpacks to choose from, and all of them are truly gigantic; modpacks with 130+ mods running at once are not uncommon. And the FTB team calibrates the funky hell out of the things before any given modpack is released, so that it's not a horrible conflicting unbalanced mess. Better yet, it's super easy to either add additional mods to any given pack (usually I always add Infernal Mobs and Dimensional Doors, my two favorites so far), or simply disable specific ones that you dont like (rarely necessary).

The modpacks can be kinda daunting though. The sheer number of new items and blocks can be absolutely absurd, and of course there's usually way more than just items and blocks. New mobs of any sort and entirely new game mechanics are common, among other things. I could probably give good tips on how to best go about learning about different bits of any given pack if you should happen to give one a go. I highly recommend them, one way or another.

I'll warn you though: the whole "nomadic" idea tends to VERY strongly go against the overall concept of any given pack; dont get me wrong, they'll offer TONS of incentives to explore (and you will indeed NEED to explore... alot), and lots of cool monsters and bosses to battle against, and all sorts of things. But many things in mods absolutely and totally without question WILL require that you have a proper standing base of some sort, and you bloody well better hope to have a ton of chests available, because you're going to need to hold ALOT of stuff. Oh, and things like potions... they aint gonna make you overpowered, not in these. In fact, you're probably going to need them, depending on the mod, lest dangerous things utterly destroy you; weaker weapons or armor may do literally nothing against stronger foes. Hell, you'll want them (badly) just in something like Infernal Mobs alone. Same with enchantments.


All of that is the biggest reason why I use modpacks. Building a base is fine, but I want there to be PRACTICAL reasons for me to do so. I dont want to build one just to build one. Give me a REASON. Often, I'll have a room full of chests, I might have a room that mostly consists of some large machine, complete with wires strung all over the place (not Redstone), I might have a specific, isolated explosion-proof reinforced room for "experiments" (some things, when done wrong in many mods, will violently explode, often with seriously gigantic explosions that the normal game never does), a room for enchanting, potions, magic, and messing with equipment.... and so on. Possibly even something like a "transportation" room, which to me is a room that has at least a Nether Portal (my main form of transportation in the normal version of the game), but often also consists of other things, such as portals to entirely different places, teleporters, aerial transport options (getting to floating islands or floating dungeons and such), and so on. It's soooooo much more satisfying to make a base when it has practical use. And overall, I also just need a real challenge for any game to hold my interest.... so I use mods that can dramatically increase the difficulty.

I've heard of things like FTB and such a while back, but was still messing with vanilla Minecraft.
I'm feeling tired of vanilla Minecraft now, so I will definitely look into these mods.

More complexity is a plus for me, as long as the items are practical. I'm not a fan of unnecessary items in games.
A lot of the items in Vanilla Minecraft seemed really pointless from my point of view.
High difficulty is also extremely important for me in games.

For a long time, I played Minecraft on Hard Survival, non-hardmode. I can't stand Creative mode either.
I used to build a base for chest storage, and I'd get really obsessive about it in a bad way where I was never happy with what I made. I would usually just settle for some generic looking minimalist small house design that looked okay.

I'd end up hoarding items in chests, and end up with way too many diamonds and not even use them.
I kept trying to think of a reason to even bother defeating the end boss and the other boss, it seemed pointless.
For some reason I really liked just finding more and more diamonds just because they are kinda uncommon and useful.
It got too easy finding diamonds though, and pointless.

For some reason, I was worried about losing items by getting killed in the end, even though I had plenty more at home.
Eventually I decided to start Hardcore mode, and not even use chests, or a base, and defeat the end boss.
The end boss was extremely easy, and the entire game was actually far easier than it was in non-hardcore mode.

I did use beds that time, but I've been doing a second Hardcore mode without beds, and there's really no need for beds.
I'm looking at the other boss, and I'm just feeling like it's tedious and pointless to even bother with it.

Wow. You sound like me. It's very rare I meet any other gamers that like or need a high level of challenge. I end up having a very hard time finding people that share interests in any of the sorts of games I like, since many of them get scared off by the difficulty of them (bullet-hell shmups being my favorite sort, after Minecraft).

For vanilla Minecraft, it's worth noting that the 1.9 update is going to change ALOT of things. If you havent already seen it, it's the "combat update". They decided that the currently ultra-simplistic combat (click click click click...) isnt enough, particularly for PVP but really for everything, so they've decided to work on that alot. Though it also means adding alot of new things and revamping some others. The Ender Dragon for instance is getting a total overhaul; it will have additional attacks, a second phase (where it drops down and attacks you directly on the ground), as well as some of the power crystals being enclosed in a metal cage, forcing you to climb up to them instead of always firing at them with arrows; I've tried doing this in even just the current version of that fight, and.... it's not easy. The dragon will also be respawnable, though there's some sort of very complicated process to do it. The End itself is getting changed; once the Dragon is down, you have access to some sort of funky portal thing; figure out how to use it, and you can travel to the OTHER parts of the End, which have all sorts of loopy things. Basically they want to make it a full dimension instead of just a boss arena (which is pretty much what it is now). That's probably the change I'm most excited about. They've shown some of the upcoming changes/additions, one enemy that appears in the End hides as a certain type of new block that will be common there (some purple block, I've no idea what it does), and when you get close, it opens and fires the game's strangest projectile at you. Get hit by that and you levitate out of control (???) which could be bad for obvious reasons. Projectile looks very hard to dodge too; you can see the trajectory of some of them in the screenshots, and... well, they dont travel in a straight line, they do.... something with strange angles. Very odd. It looks pretty awesome.

The snapshots for 1.9 are FINALLY just about to start releasing, as in, probably within the next week or two, so I'm looking forward to that.

Oh, and you're right about the game's "other boss", the Wither. That guy is.... not well designed. Yes, he's difficult; he absolutely will completely annihilate you if you're not prepared; you wont stand a chance. BUT, in the end, what he really is, is a "gear check" boss; the key to beating him is not skill, but strong enough armor (diamond plus the heaviest enchantments; anything less, and you get melted), since his attack patterns are a horrible unbalanced mess. I always get the feeling he wasnt tested well enough. All the other monsters in the game have fair attacks that can be dodged with skill, but THAT guy just sits on your head and explodes you a bazillion times. And explodes most of the landscape too. His attacks arent really dodgeable, so.... yeah. Gotta have the strongest gear to just tank it. So yeah, he's difficult, but it's the wrong kind of difficulty. If you know what "fake difficulty" means, that's exactly what it is. Worse, the only reason to defeat this guy is to get the Nether Star. There's only ONE use for it though, which is to make the game's stupidest, most badly designed thing, the Beacon. It can have a strong effect for you of putting out an area-wide buff; great for defense, particularly if you have dangerous things from mods roaming around. .....too bad that it's maximum range is exactly SIXTY blocks, yet requires over *1200* iron ingots to set up, because it needs a huge pyramid of metal blocks under it in order to produce this effect. Sixty damn blocks! Just.... why??!? That range is freaking tiny! Who thought that was a good idea?

Now as for the mods, yes, they typically add about a bazillion different "practical" items, which vary in complexity from "simple to understand" to "I have no idea what I'm doing with this thing and it may explode the entire mountain if I do it wrong". Usually, the better the item, the more difficult it is to get, requiring very complicated crafting with materials that tend to be tough to get (much tougher to get than diamonds, and you tend to need ALOT of them). There's various types of practical items, from tools, to single-block gizmos, to machines that are made up of a whole big pile of blocks and connectors and power sources and who knows what and which hopefully wont detonate on you. Most are very satisfying to use. Every now and then you might run into something that is a bit overpowered (typically, this involves any equipment that gives you flight), but of course you dont HAVE to get or use those.

The one problem with mods: Very, very few of them are explained in-game, and they're usually complicated as all hell. It's easy to use the special interface that is added with all of these modpacks (the interface being called "Not Enough Items" for some baffling reason; it's used to look up recipes and see just which modpack each block or item is from, among stuff like that), so you often have to go find the individual mod's topic on the main forums (fortunately very easy to do via Google) and read up on it. So that can be a little annoying. Something tells me though that you probably wont mind that too much.

And yes, they'll add alot of decorative items and such too (those being by far the easiest things for mod-makers to create, so even super-technical mods will usually add at least a couple) but of course the game never forces the use of any of them. I dont spend TOO much time building and such, but I do find it nice as a break every now and then from getting hit by lightning bolts and lasers and fighting horrible floating wraith things, or whatever. Though I tend to end up with very strange structures, though that's pretty fitting for me really.

The one problem with mods: Very, very few of them are explained in-game, and they're usually complicated as all hell. It's easy to use the special interface that is added with all of these modpacks (the interface being called "Not Enough Items" for some baffling reason; it's used to look up recipes and see just which modpack each block or item is from, among stuff like that), so you often have to go find the individual mod's topic on the main forums (fortunately very easy to do via Google) and read up on it. So that can be a little annoying. Something tells me though that you probably wont mind that too much.

And yes, they'll add alot of decorative items and such too (those being by far the easiest things for mod-makers to create, so even super-technical mods will usually add at least a couple) but of course the game never forces the use of any of them. I dont spend TOO much time building and such, but I do find it nice as a break every now and then from getting hit by lightning bolts and lasers and fighting horrible floating wraith things, or whatever. Though I tend to end up with very strange structures, though that's pretty fitting for me really.

I could never really think of what to use the beacons for, just seems like more unnecessary overpowered stuff.
I wouldn't mind collecting a ton of items if it were for something useful, but beacons just don't seem necessary.
Collecting iron for such a useless item seems tedious, also since iron is so easy to find.

I suppose if beacons were actually useful, you could put multiple beacons spaced 120 blocks from each other.
A lot of collecting would be required, but I enjoy collecting, but only if it's practical, and only if the items are rare.

Actually the bit with the Wither is not a lack of damage or projectiles... it's that he has way too much of BOTH. The damage is extreme, and the projectiles.... all of them... are explosive. Like, TNT-level explosive. As he attacks, he just obliterates the surrounding landscape, drilling you into a deeper and deeper mess as you get pelted by his shots. ....which he fires WAY TOO RAPIDLY. Usually from right next to you (the Wither is very fast and cannot really be outrun). In addition to this, a single hit from even just one projectile gives you the "wither" status effect; your healthbar turns black, and starts draining like it would from poison (which means that he has an attack where part of it utterly ignores armor, and is thusly very, very dangerous), except that unlike poison he heals himself a bit every time he smacks you with that. Worse off, he's got alot of health, and even if you manage to get into good positions to somehow attack him from a bit of a distance with arrows (and thus not get hit with quite as many horrible death skulls), he shifts into a second phase when his health hits the halfway point. ....a phase where he is, in fact, immune to arrows. So, you've got this huge flying evil thing that's like a perpetual TNT explosion that blasts you a million times over and is immune to it's own blasts... and you have to do the second part of the fight by attacking it with melee weapons. Yeah. Good luck with that one. Oh, and did I mention that some of his shots are so strong that they can destroy even obsidian? Yeah. He's got two shot types. Black skulls, which are the usual fast ones that explode normally, and blue skulls, which have ultra-strong blast damage that only bedrock can stop. Not that this matters much in the heat of the fight. Or what passes for a fight. That's the problem with him; he's so freaking strong and fast and undodgeable that skill alone isnt enough. You either have super-powerful equipment that can survive his constant machinegun nuke barrage, or he *will* kill you. And probably everything else in the area (he directly attacks basically EVERYTHING, killing most things in just a second). I'm fine with the idea of a very hard boss. But he's hard for all of the wrong reasons. Which is too bad, because the ideas behind his design are good. I'm hoping he gets some changes.

God forbid that the player ever actually LOSE at a mainstream game, lest they not see the rest of the all-important story (sigh) and thus dont buy the developer's next installment. Cant have THAT. Gotta make sure EVERYONE can get through! Ugh.

I mean The Wither should be made into a skill based boss fight rather than relying entirely on the strength of your equipment. I figured that if The Wither is already beatable with high level equipment even though you can't avoid it's attacks, then it would be too easy if it's attacks were avoidable and it did the same amount of damage while you have high level equipment.

I do like a good story in games, but not when it gets in the way of the actual game, which it usually does.
Most games these days seem like cheap interactive movies.
I hear people saying that "the difficulty is very high" on games I consider to be too easy.
Super Meat Boy's hardest levels are what I consider to be the right amount of difficulty.

I noticed Forget-Me-Not and Nuclear Throne on your channel, and they look very interesting.
I don't know why I've never decided to play these. I've heard of them, but I've never seen the game play.

Games I've been playing recently: Bloodborne/Souls. Final Doom. Super Meat Boy. Spelunky. Binding of Isaac. Terraria. Minecraft. The Witcher 2 and 3. Valdis Story. Resident Evil 1. Hotline Miami. Castle in the Darkness.

Other games that I'm waiting for the right time to play: Dwarf Fortress, X-COM (old and new), Oddworld: Abe's Oddysee/Exodus, Ikaruga, FTL, Alien Isolation, 1001 Spikes.

Yeah, I see that all the time too; alot of gamers will say something is oh-so-hard, and I try it, aaaaaand.... nope. It's just hard compared to the hyper-easy stuff they're used to. Good luck explaining that to them though, sigh.

Huh, and it seems you look at story in games the same way I do, as that's pretty much how I think of it. Typically, as a rule I dont really give a damn; I've got a bazillion books that I'll go read if I want a story, but a decent one in a game can be a bonus I guess.... IF it's not made of goddamn cutscenes. Few things I hate more in gaming than cutscenes. So I avoid story-focused games like the plague. I remember the days when story stuffs were told through dialog boxes, and you could read them at your own pace. Now.... movies, yep. Always like movies. And I dislike ACTUAL movies to begin with, so that doesnt help. Really though I just wish developers could actually focus a bit on gameplay for once even with the AAA games, but that hardly ever happens.

Nuclear Throne, yes, I really cant recommend that one enough. I've got what, a good 243 hours in it myself at this point, and it just keeps getting better. It's like Isaac... one of those rare games that I find just never, ever gets old. Many characters, well over 100 weapons at this point, all sorts of great mechanics, and a bazillion different monsters and things to dodge. It also uses the shmup genre's idea of "looping", in that once you've defeated the Throne completely (that being the final boss) the game restarts from the very first area (though you keep your weapons/mutations/ammo/whatever), except that it's all deranged and absurd instead of the relatively easy first area that you started with; every enemy in the game can appear in any stage once you get there, and there are new bosses that appear only in looped stages like that. The game really is fantastic.... it's not finished, but it's so polished and such that they could stop right now, and sell it as it is, and nobody would be the wiser. Just fantastic.

And yes, I'd recommend Forget-Me-Not as well. Good grief, I freaking love that one. It's sooooooo brilliant. It was originally on iOS, and I remember getting it and just playing it absolutely to death, and then the PC version happened, and it's exactly the same thing but I can use a controller (and it has a couple of different modes). It's just amazing. I love it's gimmick: a Pac-Man style maze game, except that the many creatures in the maze arent obsessively focused on you; to them, you're just another creature, so they'll tend to interact with each other in all sorts of ways instead of just attacking you. That game being what it is, this makes things harder for you, not easier, and it's easy for a given level to descend into utter chaos. I think the only problem is that the game itself doesnt explain anything to you; like, your character shoots forward constantly, but the bullets arent enough, you have to also master this "wall scrape" technique, which not only allows you to go faster but can also allow you to destroy enemies by crashing into them (including certain things that cant be destroyed normally) though it'll get you killed really fast if you dont do things right. Or if you heat up TOO much, your guy will just detonate, which is pretty hilarious.... but yeah, it's great. I think the PC version is free, too...

As for the other games, many of those I'm not familiar with (particularly RPGs, I dont have the patience for that genre). Dwarf Fortress I can recommend, if you can get by the Learning Curve from Hell. Seriously, it's absurd. I learned the game by watching about 55 tutorial videos. 55!! ! And that didnt cover advanced stuff; I learned on my own past that point. Much as I recommend the game, yeah, dont try to get start on it till you're sure of having some major free time, because tutorials like that are the only real way to do it. FTL is also pretty good, BUT, it has a bit too much RNG in it, which is a huge shame. You absolutely can lose JUST because the RNG dictates that you should. As someone that's played a million roguelikes and games inspired by those, that's NOT the right way to do things. But it's still good.

And Ikaruga.... I swear, even as such a huuuuge shmup fan as I am, I must be one of the only people that genuinely dislikes that game. It's slow, the attack patterns are kinda boring, very gimmicky, and just bleh... I could recommend entire lists of games in that genre to anyone that was looking for such things, but that particular game would not be on such a list.


What is Valdis Story like? It *looks* like a Metroid-vania game, from what I've seen of it, but it's one of those few games I havent really seen any of on Youtube or whatnot.

I'm not a fan of cut scenes either, but I'll usually put up with them if I have to. Reading the story through text is a lot better. I always have to use subtitles in games with spoken dialogue, and it can be hard to mentally process even then.

Right when you said that Forget-Me-Not is free on PC, I immediately went to download it.

Valdis Story is an Action RPG type Metroidvania, so it's more like Castlevania than Metroid.
On the highest difficulty setting, it's probably harder than most Castlevania type games.
