Pokemon is still imbalanced.
Okay ... I'm a bit late to the party but I just felt like talking about this now. I had other stuff to do when the games first came out.
Apparently the fairy type was added to the Pokemon world for game balance. I will agree that dragons were OP ... but was another type really necessary? They could have just changed the other types.
Another Thing: The game is still imbalanced. Why are fairies resistant to bug attacks? Pokemon is supposedly based on bug catching and yet the creators of Pokemon seem to hate bug Pokemon and people who like them. I've also noticed that ice STILL only resists itself. Ice Pokemon still suck and Pokemon fans are still just teaching ice moves to water Pokemon. What else is new?

I'll have to teach you a bit about Pokemon...
Dragon Pokemon in the previous generations had no type weakness, making them superior to all others.
They also had very few moves that were super effective on them.
Fairy type Pokemon and Fairy type moves were created to counter Dragon Pokemon and Dragon Type moves.
Other Pokemon types can learn Fairy type moves.
The moves a specific Pokemon can learn, is due to the which Pokemon it is.
Pokemon is also not based on bug catching!
The Poison Pokemon are the ones that get shafted in each generation.
Pokemon stats are based on these things:
*Individual Values (IV), they range from 0 - 31, by the time you hit Level 100, each stat will receive their IVs, if any
*Natures (it depends on the nature your Pokemon has) - determine stat growth with some stats being hindered and others being raised
*Abilities - can influence stat boosting, normally just come into play when battling, all Pokemon have a hidden alternate ability, though finding said Pokemon with it is a hard task.
*Effort Values (EVs) - you can put up to 510 EVs into your Pokemon, with each stat maxing out at 255 EVs. This allows you to get an extra 63+ stat points in two stats, or you can distribute them amongst all the stats.
Each Pokemon you battle in the game has an EV or EVs, when you defeat it, you get it.
Vitamins, Wings, Power bracelets and other items let you increase EVs.
*PokeRus also lets you double the amount of EVs you get for KOing a Pokemon, though it is very rare to find in the game (only wild Pokemon have it) or you must trade for an infected Pokemon.
*Breeding - it lets you breed certain unobtainable moves via leveling up, into a given Pokemon, via chain breeding. It also lets you pass down natures, abilities and IVs from parent Pokemon.
Many players use breeding to produce the perfect Pokemon!
*Super Training - Use this new mode in Pokemon X/Y/OR/AS to EV training, it is much faster than defeating Pokemon to max out certain stats.
Read up here on how the game mechanics works, so you can be a better Pokemon player.

Also the Diance (legendary event Pokemon) event is live in North America and Europe for ORAS users today runs through Monday.

Something.... Weird... Something...
Honestly I think it's hard to fully balance something out when there's about 7 bazillion different things in it that can be chosen from, I mean, it's like what... 700+ total Pokemon now? Naturally not all of them actually get chosen, but still. And then I dont even know how many moves to pick from. And so on.
Either way, it could be worse. It could be the earliest games. I still remember when Psychic types ruled all and pretty much couldnt be stopped. They were weak to bug and ghost (Dark wasnt around yet), too bad though that almost all bug/ghost types in the original games were also poison types, and had very, very few actual bug or ghost type attacks (and what was there was very weak, as a rule)....

Well Fairy type is meant to represent nature, so the idea is that nature would resist bugs. Fairies are weak to Poison and Steel because the idea is that those two destroy nature.
The Bug type is traditionally an early game type that is strong early on but less useful later on, some stronger Bug Pokémon have started to appear like Volcarona, and the strength against both Psychic and Dark actually makes Bug type attacks fairly useful.

It was about time that poison became more effective. It's only been super effective against grass so far, and ice, flying, bug and fire were as well, so there was little point in raising a poison Pokemon, unless it was a dual type, and even then it was likely to just get in the way, since it would make the Pokemon more vulnerable to ground and psychic moves, particularly annoying for a grass Pokemon.
I both love and hate that there are so many Pokemon. I wish you could start the game over again and fight the same opponents all over again with other Pokemon (without actually starting a new game), so more Pokemon could be used. X Y and ORAS introduced Exp share that allowed one to share with the entire party, I hope they never change that, it's hard enough to level them up as it is.
