I'd also say ebay is a good place to check for things, I bought a PS3 a few months ago....first gaming console of my own I've ever had. But yeah got it off ebay for like a third of the full price, i doubt you'd find a PS4 that much cheaper since its still such a new system. Hell I'd say just get a PS3, but then that wont help if the games you enjoy with your friends are mostly specifically for PS4.
Also the way I see it if its something you really want and would enjoy....I don't think there is anything wrong with going ahead and getting it unless you have another expense you are aware of coming up to where it would set you back too much..but if its just going to sit there may as well use it for something you'll enjoy and use a lot. If I do happen to hear of any contests and this thread is still going I'll post a link here.
Yeah, I'll second this, particularly that final bit.
This IS an expensive machine. Do make sure to really examine how much use, how much CONSTANT use, you'll get out of it, before deciding to purchase. It's like how some people are with computers: Why pay a really silly amount for a powerful machine, if all you're going to do with it is check Facebook and email people? That's a really bad use of quite a ton of money.
If you think you'll get alot of use out of it though.... I'd say it's worth saving up for, if you can. I wouldnt worry too much about "contests". The chances of winning something like that.... on the rare occaision when one exists... is just too low to depend on. Dont concern yourself with those. Just, I dunno, try to earn some extra money somehow, if you can.
The thing isnt perfect, and I think it's selection could be alot better... but I do think it's a pretty good console, and it's worth some effort to get if it's got the sort of games you want.
