Sims 2 keeps crashing on my laptop
I've always had Sims 2 and all the expansion packs installed on my laptop and never had any trouble with it.
However, ever since I upgraded my laptop to windows 10, my Sims 2 game has been crashing, causing me to have to restart the game, only to have it crash again after a certain amount of time.
It's upsetting because Sims 2 is my favourite game, I prefer it to Sims 3 and 4. Is there any way I can solve this? I tried changing the compatibility mode to windows 8 but it didn't make any difference. Windows 8 is the most it goes up to in the compatibility options.
It is making me miserable that I can't play my favourite game. I have sort of a fantasy world going on in Sims 2. There must be a way, please intelligent Aspies, you must know a helpful way I can continue my Sims 2 without it keep freezing.

The "compatibility" options arent to be trusted; frankly, in my experience, they rarely do a thing in any version of Windows.
I'll put it this way though: Alot of games right now have had to update themselves or even put out a special version of their client JUST to be compatible with the new OS. I have two computers myself; this main gaming rig PC, and my kinda-a-gaming-rig laptop. I only upgraded to 10 on the laptop. The PC is actually still running 7, as I figure a great many things will stop working if I fully upgrade it (and I didnt like 8 at all, though 10 is fine so far, from what I've experienced of it).
But yeah, it's been a problem with many games. Binding of Isaac is a good example, I've heard alot of players say that after upgrading to 10, they've had a ton of trouble getting it to run. If they can get it to run whatsoever. And even Minecraft put out a special version of their launcher designed specifically to run on 10.
And in an overall sense.... Windows has always had alot of difficulties with older games/programs. The older they are compared to the current version of Windows, the more likely they are to screw up somehow.
Your best bet is not this forum, but instead probably the central Sims forum. I suspect you will find others that have run into exactly the same problem, and if there is a solution that's been found yet, that's the place you'll find it.
