So I'm a big fan of tabletop roleplaying. I got into it toward the end of HS with AD&D 2nd Ed and have since progressed to having quite an eclectic collection of different games. What are some of your favorites? Mine in general are the White Wolf/Onyx path games like Vampire and Mage along with Exalted. I also like Shadowrun.

My favorite TTRPG is Marc Miller's "Traveller". Here is a typical Traveller character, rolled up on December 05, 2015. He happens to be an Aspie ...

Traveller Character Zharn Restagh - IISS (Ret'd)

UPP: 648D56
HomeWorld: StarPort=A, Size=Medium, Atmos=Thin, Hydro=Dry, Population=High, Law=High, Tech=High Stellar
Age: 38
Terms: 5
Career: Imperial Interstellar Scout Service (IISS)
Rank: None
Skills: Grav Vehicle-4, Vacc Suit-4, Electronics-2, Mechanical-2, Navigation-2, Pilot-2, Body Pistol-1, Computer-1
Cash: 100000 Cr
Pension: 10000 Cr/Year
Skills/Experience: 18 / 18
Benefits: Body Pistol

Zharn Restagh has just retired from the IISS after five terms in the External Mapping Branch. His main duties involved transporting survey teams around worlds as they determined the extent of exploitable resources. His secondary duties included ship-board maintenance and standing watch with the regular bridge crew.

He tends to be clumsy, and not very sociable, but these are offset by his high intelligence. He enlisted with the Scouts partly as a form of rebellion against the pro-Navy attitudes of his family, partly to avoid Naval service, and partly to get away from the noise and confusion of his high-population world.

Zharn's father and mother are both Captains in the Imperial Navy. His older brother is a lieutenant in the Imperial Marines. His two younger sisters run a subsidized merchant vessel on regular runs between Strouden (2327), Persephone (2228), and Shirene (2125).

Zharn's home world is Strouden (2327 A745988 D), in the Lunion subsector of the Spinward Marches. Strouden is a high-population, industrial world with a billion or more sophonts in population size. As an industrial world, this planet has well-developed manufacturing and processing industries. Manufactured goods are a major export item. Its economy is rapidly growing and living conditions are expected to rapidly improve barring outside forces. It is a member of the Third Imperium in the Lunion Subsector of Spinward Marches Sector in the Domain of Deneb. This world has a nearby Imperial Naval Base, capable of handling warships.

Strouden has a thin oxygen-nitrogen atmosphere, tainted with industrial pollutants, and a normal climate. It's primary is a yellow G5-V star, with a red M4-V companion in far orbit. There are two asteroid belts and no gas giants.

The Ling-Standard Products shipyards here and on Lunion (Spinward Marches 2124), are two of the largest producers of starship hulls in the Marches, specializing in warships for the Imperial Navy.

Yup, Traveller is definitely one of the oldies but goodies. I haven't gotten the latest edition yet but given that you can play darn near any type of game you want to with that system it has got to be one of the most versatile in the entire TTRPG industry.
